When Are They Going To Improve Whole Home

How? Doesn't work like that here. The EHD's on the HWS are not visible from the H2K. Is there a trick?

Now that I think about it I may be wrong. I'm thinking of accessing the EHD from my Wireless Joey in my bedroom which is actually connected to the Hopper with the EHD. I was thinking of the old way I had my room set up when it was connected to the second Hopper in my basement. Sorry for the confusion, brain fart.

Well by back up plan is I have a 211k receiver that I own & that I still have hooked up and I use it to power my ota antenna. All I have to do is call DISH and re-authorize it since it was on my account before , while I wait for a replacement hopper receiver to arrive.
Don't forget that you need to figure out how you're going to feed satellite signal to the ViP211k. It won't work without it and I'm pretty sure you can't plug it into the node.

A single tuner on the host port of the node should not have any difficulties. IIRC then it's when you start going more than a single tuner that is affected.

I'm looking forward to it then.

shared timers don't apply in my case, but I sure would have liked them when I had 2 hoppers.

I would like to get search fixed a bit. Used to be if you hit the search button in a show or the guide, it pulled up a search for that program and you could edit the line. Now if you move the cursor over the text in search, it blanks it first. Don't like that.

I am also irritated by it now deleting the info, especially since there are no special characters.

Maybe he's got an DPP44 switch BEFORE the node, (like I do) so that he can have a dedicated port for that "non-Ho" receiver... ;)

Got that covered. I have a second dish for western arc that is exclusive to my 211k, so it can use a terk antenna and diplex my signal for both sat and ota over one cable ,since you can't do that with the hopper. So my hopper is on eastern arc 1000.4 dish and my 211k is on my 1000.2 western arc dish. I also have a side sat that I can use for any sat I want and add it into my eastern arc or western arc dish . My own little satellite dish farm all on poles in my back yard. I installed them all my self with quickrete, after Hurricane Rita in 05 destroyed my original primestar sat dish and pole.

Another thing I encounter with the whole home is if you are watching something from DVR2 and select to stop it, when you select DVR it sends you back to DVR1. Not DVR2 that you were on.
Another WH problem is if you are in DVR1 and Delete a show while watching, it sends you back to the DVR1 screen. At that point you can not get to DVR2. It will allow you to select it but it stays on DVR1. You have to go back to live TV and start the clicking all over again.
Call these bugs or just poor programming of the F/W ?

I would call it poor programming or poor writing of the requirements for the programmers to work from.
That pretty much covers everything. That something behaves differently from one invocation to the next is probably a programming error (failure to reinitialize a variable). Most other issues come from not fully considering things upstream of the programmers.

Programmers rarely determine how something is supposed to work. That aspect is done by people who call themselves engineers.

Not to be overly defensive about my ex profession but when I was working that aspect was done by people who called themselves Product Marketing. It was them who surveyed the market, determined requirements, did cost analysis, determined time to market, and wrote a product spec based on that data.

Engineers beat what parameters they can get out of the marketroids and put together a model that should work. This is how it is done in most industries that sell their products.

The fact that marketroids aren't necessarily very adept at communicating effectively nor cooperating is what makes the job "interesting" (in a Chinese curse sense). The worst kind is the "same as last time" (primarily for costing and lead-time purposes), "but different" (to meet whatever the customer's needs will be; many of which aren't detailed).

Whoever decides what is done, it is up to the programmers to decide how to implement the features. I doubt very much that the spec called for dumping the user back to square one after every operation, it is just poor programming period.
