Help Dish Changing from orbitals 110,119 to 72,51?

I have a 'friend' with a DISH setup down in the Caribbean that has been using a DISH 500+ w/ LNB 110, 119...he is listed to a New York City address to receive those local channels...

Anyway, several channels (like PBS) have started to error out when you try to switch to them. When the 'friend' called, he was told that a technician would need to come over and change out the satellite because there is a transition from orbitals 110, 119 to orbitals 72, 51 for that area of service.

A local technician that is working freelance in the Caribbean told him to switch to a St Thomas address. But the problem with that switch is that the primary feed for St Thomas is from Puerto Rico (so all the Network affiliates run their commercials in Spanish, and they cover national spots over with local Puerto Rico ads...not watchable, particular when watching live sports).

So I was trying to find out if this change in satellites is the entire East Coast of the US, or a market by market issue? If it is a market-by-market issue, does anyone know what cities will still receive 110, 119?
I need to know if my 'friend' needs to switch his address, or buy an new LNB
Thanks to anyone that can answer this one!

This is an entire Eastern Arc sat transition. If your "friend" wants to keep the NY service address, yes, a new LNB is required. If he changed the address, it would have to be one in the Western Arc markets.

Thank you. So we can keep the same equipment and change our address. Any suggestions on how to get a list of the western arc markets? We are looking for something in the Eastern Standard Time Zone.

Such a precise list has been evasive. For your criteria, Indianapolis, IN would be a safe bet, WA on Eastern Time.

Maybe Iceberg will come along. He seems to know all that stuff.

Yes, Bobby's got it. The local market that the OP 'moves' to has to have CONUS locals that are receivable in the Caribbean. That's gonna be a challenge. :)

How does one get to The List these days since new software? There you can search WA market by market to see what's what.

Yes, found it BUT you have to put cursor on down arrow for a drop down, otherwise just takes you to Front Page

Nope, spotbeam. Most every market is these days. Some markets have some channels on Conus, but not all.
And with E18 going up soon, the days for most (all?) conus markets are numbered.

After checking through the Market lists I found 10 markets that have CONUS feeds (some had both CONUS and Spot Beam). From your comments it sounds like he will need CONUS to get the local channels if he is further than the 300 mile Spot Beam signal.

These are the markets (CONUS signal channel):
Jacksonville, FL (77)
Columbus, GA (77)
Lexington, KY (77)
Louisville, KY (77)
Paducah, KY (77)
Bluefield, WV (77)
Evansville, IN (77)
Ft Wayne, IN (61.5)
Little Rock, AR (77)

Not sure if these are WA or EA markets...So the question that I have is; could my 'friend' add a dish to pick up 77 or 61.5 and still get the Western Arc signals for these markets from his DISH 500+ with LNB 110, 119?

Davenport, IA

61.5 and 77 are Eastern arc only. He needs an eastern arc dish with appropriate LNBs. There is no guarantee that all of these market will not go to spot beam only in the near future....
