I use APC ups's on both my HWS's. Prevents a reboot during a brief outage.
I would guess that you will probably never need a UPS if you never have had problems.Never used one... How "necessary" would you say these are? I have never had an issue, and most my electronics last long past the life expectancies. Just curious... I know there is no right/wrong answer.
Yes, and I just remembered those are called "in-line" UPS's, which I've also invested in. I often forget about the "in-line" option as I am so used to considering "Stand-by" and "On-line/Double Conversion" in my crusty brain. UPS's, despite my complicated postsI use line conditioning UPSes on my home theaters. Yep, cost more. But sags, spikes, static and dropouts are all protected against. I learned my power sags were due to an overloaded circuit and ran another one. Still, I think the cleaner power will extend the life of my components.
