Dish HBO feud?

I don't know about you guys, but it's getting harder for me to justify having HBO. The network now only has 2 really good programs for me: Game of Thrones and True Detective. Vice is coming back soon, which is nice but not a game-changer. Their boxing matches have gotten boring since Golden Boy/ Floyd Mayweather went to Showtime. If it wasn't for having Bill Maher for most of the year, I would probably drop it, but even that show hasn't been as good lately. Finally, John Oliver posts the main segment of his show on Youtube, which is convenient, but that loses that show's value as well.
I have to agree. I had half-off HBO and Show, but after first of the year, there was just nothing I wanted to watch on either. Used the funds to go back to AT250 and half off BB@H to get some more movies and BBCA and TCM.
I'm in a similar situation with HBO. If it weren't for the promise of GoT, I'd drop it like a hot potato. Most of their movies are well past their expiration date and they've become relatively thin on compelling original content.
Yeah, I agree, their movies are not a draw, and the originals that I really like are becoming fewer. Not to mention that boxing, which is one of the 2 big draws to HBO, hasn't been coming along often enough.
At $19/month it isn't much of a deal, and I'm really starting to look seriously at dropping it. But for some of the same reasons, most of the Premiums have gotten that way. A very few good series, a bunch of movies I care little about and not much else.

Starz really is the best. Between Black Sails and Da Vinci's Demons that's 20 weeks a year at least. If Outlander is your thing (going to try to get into it again) that's another 13-16 weeks. Plus Power adds another 10 and may get a bump due to Empire.
They have surprisingly gotten hit after hit the past couple of years and are actually giving their shows time to find an audience.

My half off hbo ran out the other day, so i cancelled it online and no half price offer popped up like when i went to cancel half off showtime or half off blockbuster. Did a chat this morning and was told that the only hbo promo available is the $20 combo pack with cinemax. But any of the other premiums are still available for half off.
Been awhile like that. I was talking with SomeDishGuy, and I want to say September time frame... Give or take a month.
Well, I think the only reason Turner agreed to the short term extension was so that they could line up other Turner channels, especially TBS, agreements to the end of the contract dates to give them more leverage against Dish. Ergan did say he was aware of this tactic and did admit that not being able to retransmit TBS would be "more problematic," but he made it clear he would not hesitate to have Dish without Turner channels if the proposed deal was too unreasonable.
With the exception of ESPN, there just isn't a single channel that will cause mass exodus. Today, it is the media companies who need the MVPD's more than the other way around. With so many channels, I've found myself watching those when some of the biggest and highest rated refused to be on Dish. With the exception of one person, who like to complain, everyone I've asked during many of the past channel blackouts and possible new ones, they have all (about 20) said they would rather have a channel no longer on Dish than pay any extra, or pay as much as the channel owner wants. They have tons of other channels and Netflix, etc. They really can live without them. Hey, it did NOT hurt DirecTV when 12 Viacom channels went dark. TBS does have some sports, but it aint no ESPN.

Even as an ESPN fan, especially sportscenter, there is not a single channel on any network that would have me jump ship. That is whether I was with Dish, DTV, TWC, Cox etc. I'm more interested in the equipment, features and service reliability. I have to many other options if a channel goes dark(permanent or temporary). If I really absolutely need to watch a program, I will go online to get it, my brothers or parents house, a bar, or anywhere I would be able to find it(if that necessary). What I have come to find out is with the invent of the world wide web, there are episodes and clips of everything imaginable. Hell, I even found the 2 banned episodes of South Park that Matt Stone has said only 2 official copies exist of the Mohammad episode, so that took some work, but I really wanted to watch it. Free even.
For GOT, call just before the season starts and see if you can get a 6 month deal. When the series ends, just call and cancel HOB. Just a thought
$19 is too high. It should be $15 max, $12 max for standalone HBO Go.

I find myself watching netflix and amazon prime. There is so much good stuff out there I dropped all the premiums. Now I am even starting to wonder about the value of the higher end standard packages.
I bought the first three seasons on Blu-ray for under $90 so it may be time for me to stick a fork in HBO.
Im getting ready to dump HBO....At $19 per month, its no longer worth it....Maybe they aren't advertising HBO because it is already $19.00 a month!It is already the highest premium channel they have on the market. Why advertise it?
