This is actually an update to an issue brought up here over 6 months ago.

The initial issue was video blanking on this one local channel every 10 to 30 seconds. The chief engineer at KHON worked with DISH when the video blanking first started happening. It was determined that the DISh equipment in Colorado that was uplinking the station was defective.

Dish replaced the equipment and the problem was resolved. However, DISH supposedly repaired the defective equipment and placed it back in service.

Since then we in Hawaii have been living with the video blanking once the "repaired" equipment was back in service.

Tonight, 8/22, the issue has increased to also include audio dropouts every several seconds.

I reported this to DISH and have received a $10/mo credit for 6 months until this is resolved.

Hopefully other Hawaii subscribers will also report this issue so it is finally fixed.

Thanks for the update on this. Does anyone know if this is happening on DirecTV as well? While I understand that this is a Dish issue, If you are experiencing this issue on DirecTV as well, please PM me immediately.

I don't think Directv would have a issue. The uplink for this channel is at Sling Media Headquarters in California for Dish. I would have to be leave the problem is not with MC but a local dish spotbeam issue. There is nothing reported to say anything different

Its possible as both providers use the same feeds from Hawaii via Echostar. Same thing for some markets in Alaska. They do this to share on costs on the transmission fees from those locations back to the lower 48.

E* and D* work together on a lot of things on the engineering side. This is a good thing for everyone as it keeps outages to a minimal between both providers.
