Suspend/Disconnect and still view recordings?

Curious, if I suspend or disconnect the coaxial feed from my Hoppers, can I still view recordings already on the drive?

Didn't I read somewhere on here that if you disconnect your box from the dish and internet so it doesn't get the terminate signal that you could? Never had the occasion to try it though.
Maybe not.

It will work for a few days... but if the smart card don't get signal over a few days it automatically shuts off.

It is also different on different receivers with different results. The short and simple answer is "no it will not work". The more complicated answer is "you can try it, you might get lucky, but if it cuts off, you were told it was not supported." It is a game with the receivers.
