When the 4k Joeys arrive, will there be a 4k hopper,as well? 2 of my 3 TVs are 4k. One of those is in my HT room with the hopper.

A Hopper will be required, but the UHD content will be delivered exclusively through a UHD Joey for the foreseeable future.
I wouldn't get wadded up in it as I don't see DISH delivered UHD content being a thing for a while yet. It won't make sense until there are a couple of linear UHD channels at least.

Well, I hope you are wrong. I think DISH needs to jump on the band wagon and have UHD in the next gen Hopper.
That would certainly put them ahead of the competition as Direct's new Genie doesn't natively output 4K either and needs a client similar to the joeys to output to 4K TVs. I guess only time will tell.

Absent UHD, why should DISH spend the money on outfitting all of their whole home DVRs with a costly feature that won't be effectively used during the product's useful life?
I'm not optimistic about the TiVo BOLT being able to record UHD either. It sounds more like a HD DVR with UHD streaming capability.
If you are going to buy a 4K TV for Christmas, Plan on buying a ROKU 4 which will avail much more 4K programming. You'll also need to sub to Netflix....
i do have a subscribtion to netflix where can you find the new roku 4? anything going to be on the new 4k joey?
...but how many are hd apps as i really like hd and apps are awesome so if they could please put a roku 4 in the hopper with the new chrome ui that may come this month or next month it would be so awesome
