Seems like every day, once a day, I go to power on the Hopper 3 and it won't turn on. I press the Reset button and then I good for the rest of the day, even if I turn the Hopper off and come back hours later to turn it on.

I have the same issue. The only way to turn it on is to reboot which results in a lapse in any show(s) being recorded. I contacted the mothership yesterday and they gave me a fix involving the side buttons on the new remote which did not resolve the issue.

I just tried something... with the H3 still in its "Off" problem, I went to the other room and turned on one of two Joey2s. The Joey2 worked just fine receiving a good picture and sound from a live show. So that leads me to believe that the H3 is alive at that point (with Joey on and working) but it is a simple "On/Off" issue with the H3.

The H3 is always either on or standby.

I spoke to advanced tech. this morning and, as Chris_S said, it is being worked on. They have 29 (and counting) reports of this s/w issue and expect a fix in a few weeks (AKA "soon").

Just another thought that may focus on the problem. My H3 was installed on 2/18 in the late afternoon and it seemed to work OK then. The next morning I got U304 and that s/w version may have introduced the issue.

I'm having the same issue every morning and Dish replaced the Hopper3 once now do to this ongoing problem. Also the volume cut in and out. I would have thought they would have pushed out a new software asap. What the hold up?

If the replacement receiver exhibits the same issue, then I doubt it is the software. Mine never did that.
This has to be something else in the setup. Perhaps cabling/connections? LNBF?
Two receivers in a row that won't turn on normally, I cannot believe in a SW issue really.
There is something else the receiver does not like with the install.

TEMP SOLUTION:
just proactively reboot the Hopper every day when you leave for work. It will then be rock solid for an other 24 hrs.
Seemed that the old Hoppers used to auto reboot at 1am.
Bet they have a memory leak in the software. Kind of like Windows, works best if you reboot daily.
Im sure they will fix this, just takes time.
Over the Air Tuners, External Hard Drives, and using the Media App to stream live TV or movies from your PC make it worse.
