Hopper 3 4K 60 fps

Ok so I am a little confuse about the hopper output. My vizio 4k tv only allows 4K 60 fps on hdmi 5. On hdmi 1 & 2 it is 30 fps. If I hook the hopper up to the 30 fps port, it only shows 1080I as the resolution on the 4K channel. If I switch it to hdmi 5 it show up as 2160p on the 4K channel. I am using an hdmi 1.4 cable, which is only supposed to support up to 30 fps on 4K. So how is it possible to show 60 fps on port 5 with an hdmi 1.4 cable? I also noticed that on port 5 the upscalling for the 1080 channels is not there, or not as good as on a 30 fps port. Why will my tv not work with the hopper on a 30 fps input to show 4K?

The Olympic 4k is at 60 fps so that is why you only can view it in HDMI 5.
Its you imagination that the upscaled content on HDMI 5 doesn't look as good as the other ports as it ALL uses the same scaler.

Only Port 5 has HDCP 2.2, that is the problem, not 30/60 fps.

Had the same problem with my Roku 4, could not figure out with I was not getting 2160P on input 1, found out about HDCP only on 5, switched it then full UHD.

You are right about the upscaling on input 1, so much better then 5, I solved it with my receiver ( Onkyo 747 ) which has 2 HDMI Outputs, watch 1080P on #1, switch it to 5 for UHD on the TV ( after changing the display output to 4K and rebooting the Roku ).

Only takes a minute to do the switch and reboot time for the Roku.

Only Port 5 has HDCP 2.2, that is the problem, not 30/60 fps.

But not at 60 fps, ( 1 and 2 are only 30 fps) should of made my post more clear, he has 2 problems, HDCP 2.2 and Dish only puts it out at 60 fps, he has to use input 5.

Every time I used the Roku 4 on input 1 trying to watch UHD with Vudu all I had was HDCP error ( Netflix was stuck at 1080 ), the only way it worked was how I explained above.

Thanks for the help everyone, makes sense. So, if most all providers (dish, vudu, netflix, roku, etc.) use 60 fps, then I wonder why the tv only has one 4K 60 fps input? So far I have only seen where 4K blu-ray discs use 30 fps. Hdmi 1.4 must work for 60 fps then, because that's the cables I am using.

vizio tv are the problem, I had p-series which made dish and directv look bad. went with sony and have no more troubles

I can't say the same. I calibrated my P55 and it looks amazing on dish. I get compliments all the time.

Many HDMI 1.4 cables can handle the higher frequency required for 4K at 60p. It's just not guaranteed.

No idea. maybe on your TV Apps?

There is less processing on Hdmi5, therefore less of a quality cable is needed. Try a good high speed cable like Blue Jeans.
Also longer the cable. the more the loss of signal.
