On my 10' dish I'm using a dual ortho feed (Bullseye II) I've been fiddling with it a bit and have left the cover off the throat. Having some issues yesterday I went out and looked and found a big field spider had taken up residence on my dish. She was rolling up a yellow jacket she had caught. I watched her for a while and noticed she was filling her larder with bees, rolling them up and stuffing them in the Ku tube. So I evicted the spider and her larder and signal levels are normal again. Gotta get up there and put a cap on though ;)

It never fails. Have 10 feedhorns without caps. The one out of ten that is actually hooked up and being used is the one the bees or other insects get in. :D

I had hornets get in through a small vent hole and actually fill the cover with a nest to the point the LNBs started to overheat and the picture would break up. I figured the LNB(s) needed replacing until I pulled the cover off. Got down off that ladder in a hurry! Once I cleaned all that out the picture was back to normal.

I have noticed that same thing before. I think the bees are drawn toward live LNBs. As if they emit a kind of music to the bees. I notice they are constantly checking the LNBs for habitable locations. But they leave the cover over the AJAK alone. They could build a right fine nest inside the AJAK but I have never found one in there. I did bee proof one of my AJAK motors but the other has never drawn one bee.
