And DA used to work so nicely for me... Just got the Guide fixed and now this again.
Awhile ago DA would get stuck on initializing after pressing the watch button. I tried disabling my firewall, logging out then in, restarting, rebooting, anything I could think of...to no avail. walked away once for about 30 min while stuck, no change. Then one day it worked, for the last two weeks or so, but now it's back, this time upon selecting watch as well as my DVR recordings. I cannot watch anything on DA at all.
I have read posts saying, essentially, that since DA is not something we actually pay for we should, essentially, take it as it is and shut up. Personally I think that if Dish puts something out there with its name on it they should make sure it works. I have read posts on another forum that said this initialize problem has been around for three YEARS or so. Like here that forum has Dish employees that monitor things and make appropriate and germane answers to problems, but I saw nothing related to an acknowledgement of the problem or a solution there, so I will try here:
Anybody else have this problem or a solution to it?

This may be more of an issue with your browser or computer.

I've experienced the "initializing" that never stops using this Dell desktop/win 10 pro (upgraded from win7 pro)/Firefox browser.

I notice this issue occurs if I've viewed a video from another source prior to launching DISH Anywhere. Sometimes you can't help starting another video because some sites (like Yahoo) automatically start playing a video when you open the page.

For me, a reboot of the computer always cured the problem -BUT- I also discovered that sometimes Firefox processes will remain loaded and running even if the browser is closed.

I also discovered that if I run into the "initializing" that won't stop, I can use the utility "Process Explorer"

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer.aspx

to kill the Firefox Process Tree and then DISH Anywhere will load properly. On occasion, I've also had to kill the igfx processes as well (Intel Graphics related).

BTW, for anyone reading this - when posting about a problem like this, it helps to pass along the info of what you are using when experiencing your problem.

Yes, I was on the side of the computer/browser problem, since the OP's problem is rare, for the most part. I've have to play some games with Firefox on OTHER sites. I am a creature of habit by still using it, but it does NOT play well with everything, all the time. Problem is, I have yet to find a better Devil!

I have Win 10 on my PC, I have tried FF, Edge, IE, and Chrome browsers with no success, only FF and Edge with the latest issue. I will download and try Process Explorer later this evening. Watching another video source before DA is a no go, I have done that, unintentionally, before. Oh, and I have two friends with the same problem with DA, one a Win 7 machine and Chrome, and one Mac and Safari. The Mac works right now but in the last 2 weeks or so it has mostly not worked but did work once for a couple of days. The Win 7 never has worked, stuck every time he tried. Neither are real DA users, I got them to try it when my issues started

Here is a thread from Dish's forum, it goes back over 3 years. Multiple OSs, multiple browsers, same issue

Well, If you want to use a three year old post to fuel your argument, so be it. Let me ask you this...."I have Win 10, and FF. No problems.....why you, not me...or apparently most recent viewers of this thread? I think maybe you might need to get on the Mozilla support forum. Oh, and have you updated you Dish Annywhere plug-ins FF?

That thread extends from 3+ years ago to 2Aug16, fairly recent as I see things, so yeah, I WILL use a 3 year old post as fuel. It's a problem that has been around with no permanent resolution for awhile. Did you read the post? It is 5 pages long.....and there are other posts that touch on the issue. Oh, I have the latest plug-in.

All things said, I hope your problem will eventually get resolved.

You have Windows 10 try this...You have to go to [control panel]in the panel look upper right[view by]click...chose [small icons]the panel will expand look for[programs and features]click it look for [dishanywhere desktop]click it a panel will come up [repair or uninstall]click repair...let it repair it will take a while...it will tell you when its done...go try dishanywhere...post the results if you would

Partysox, I tried that and it's different anyway. I get a screen says Connected to Family Room. Under that it says Please click on live tv or select a program to start streaming. I cant click on a program to stream and Live TV goes nowhere.

It works! after trying to repair I went back and uninstalled both Dish programs and then reinstalled the DA app I was told on the screen I needed. I have done this before with no change but this time it worked. we will see how long it lasts, it also worked for awhile on its own then broke itself. On FF, Edge still not supported and don't want to download Chrome again.

Have you tried Microsoft Edge lately? Dishanywhere.com works for me on Windows 10/Edge. Internet Explorer is also still in Windows 10, hidden away in the Start menu under Windows Accessories.
You can find IE easier than that if your in Edge look upper right[3 dots]click...in the drop down menu there is open with IE click it new IE page....

I too suffered this problem earlier in the week, but then it cleared up by Friday without my doing anything. I hope your solution really fixed it and that it stays fixed.
