I was surprised to hear this--it's had a good run. Enjoy the show as it is not your "normal" cop show.
It is not really a surprise, contracts make long running shows much more expensive. 6 seasons is about the limit unless a show performs very well or can change out actors to new lower paid ones...
100 episodes used to be the magic number, now 80 is good enough... 5.5 years of Grimm is way more than is needed for reruns...
