When I use Dish Anywhere on my two laptops with Windows, whenever it is adjusting the video quality, the screen goes black for two seconds. It doesn't matter what browser I use. I also have a Macbook Pro and I don't have a problem when I use that laptop. Is there anything that could be done to fix this? If not, is there a laptop that I could buy that would guarantee that this problem does not come up?

WHY IS THIS POSTED IN THE DISH FORUM? As written it sounds more like a computer rather than a DISH problem.

Yes, when Dish Anywhere switches video quality, the screen goes black for a couple of seconds. It has been doing this for years now. I don't think that there is anything you can do about it, that is the way that Dish designed their software. If that really bothers you, you can try setting the video quality to something other than 'Auto'. I think that will prevent Dish Anywhere from changing the video resolution, so you will not get the black screen. However, you will also not get the benefit of the software automatically switching resolutions based on your download speeds.

If your internet is fast enough, you can set the video quality to HD, but if your connection slows down, you will get macro-blocking, stuttering, or no video, instead of a black screen for a couple of seconds.

BTW, Dish Anywhere questions have been posted here for a long time. This is the correct forum.

I agree with my neighbor in Eastern Ct... :) Why wouldn't you post a problem with a DISH product here?
Slingplayer works about the same way as what you are seeing with Dish Anywhere. When set to auto the software senses what the best resolution would be for the internet speed and you will either see the picture freeze for a second or two or go black, then come back at the selected resolution. I don't use Apple products so don't know if it would happen with them. It happens with Chrome and IE the two I use.

A long time ago DA remembered the setting you had it set at....it wouldn't just default to auto....why they changed it? IDK.

People just liked it better that way. ;)

Well....actually no thats not correct....If the auto setting worked I would agree.....Again...why in the hell do I have to keep going back every single time to adjust.....Freaken stupid!....If i set it at any quality that works for my download speed keep it that way.....And the auto setting aint that great.....You can set quality lower and get better delivery than auto....
