I just had my H3 installed Thursday. I'm on software U334. Every time I try multiview my screen goes completely black. It almost appears as if my tv has been turned off. And after a minute or so I get a message from my tv saying to check that the device is connected properly. And then it says no HDMI signal. The green power light on the receiver is still on. I can power off the box and then power back on, and it comes back on. But no multiview. Is this a software issue? Anyone experiencing this?

One of the channels within the MV is causing it. You may need to go to U336 to fix it. But, before you do that wait until Monday. Your new Hopper needs about 72 hours to settle in.

Is the No HDMI only happening with Multiview? Do you receive any other error code number? I do not see this as a reported issue at this time.

So yesterday, I went to options, picture in picture, and then clicked on 4 screen multiview. That's when the screen would go black. This morning I went to options and then picture in picture. But instead of clicking on multiview. I first clicked on small (which gave me 2 screens), then side by side, and THEN clicked multiview. And it worked!!

4 screen Multi View switches the H3 to 4K on a 4K capable TV. If your screen goes black there's a good chance you might not be in the proper HDMI input on your TV that is compatible with the H3 4K. You should try all the HDMI inputs to see if any of them work right. Good luck.

If you don't have a UHD TV, it stays in 1080i for 4-channel Multiview (from PIP). It's a good bet that if an HDMI input on your TV doesn't support 4K, it would output Multiview at 1080i also. But some ports on your TV may not support everything about HDMI 2.0. I'm also not sure if Multiview requires HDCP 2.2. If so, that could be causing your TV to loose connection with the Hopper.

I'd take that bet. The ARC HDMI port on my Sony TV blacks out MV and other 4K just like the poster described. Plug it into port 1 and it works fine. It might be 2.0 and 2.2 problem I don't know but I do know some ports just black it out.

Could be that it was past 72 hours of the install. It's takes the H3 a couple days to fully warm up.

i keep seeing "takes a few days"
what kind of things are expected to happen in these few days, or what changes happen after that ??

(sorry, and thanks !!)

Things that you will not see. There are various updates that take place during that few days. When all of the updates have been done your Hopper should be fully operable in every respect.
