I had the Hopper 3 installed this morning. Everything seems to work great (so far). But I can't seem to get my timers restored from my remote. Just to make sure I'm going to the right place. It's diagnostics, tools, and then restore settings?? When I click restore to receiver. I get an attention 1249, "unable to restore previous receivers settings". What am I doing wrong?

I should note, when I first tried I clicked the "restore to remote control" option by mistake. It gave me a message saying there were no settings to restore. Please tell me that didn't override my backed up settings.

Uh-oh....
Please tell me that didn't override my backed up settings.
Okay, I won't tell you that, but I think you know what happened.

Try logging into Dish Anywhere right away and get out a piece of paper and pencil. That might work. DA takes a while to re-sync sometimes.

Do you have a 2nd remote, like from a Joey ? Timers may be backed up on it. Then again, they are supposed to auto-backup timers, settings, etc on their own, every so often, but I restored timers this way once and got 'data' that was many, many months old.

Did the technician give you his/her phone # ? They always used to - they want you to call them first in case there's a hiccup 'cause they get dinged if there's any sort of related or unrelated problem within "x" days of them touching your system. You could possibly get your other remotes back (they really don't have to take them, according to the installer I had).

Try the other remotes.

Wasn't saying it was his fault. What I meant was, say the new LNB or hub that he just installed is defective - no fault of his, of course. When it acts up in a few days, next week, etc, and you call Dish for help, the way it used to be is that Dish effectively blames him for this. I don't know if that's still the case or not, but in the past, every installer/technician has given me their mobile phone # and said "call me first if you have any issues".

does this only work with certain remotes ?? and does it back up to all remotes, or the one in use ??
have a 40,50,52 and 21.1 remotes on my H3

It works with the 40.0 and 52.0, that I can personally confirm.
It also backs up to all of the remotes that are linked to the device cause even seldom used locations/remotes to burn through batteries way too fast.
I really wish they would add an option on all remotes after the first to not automatically backup to.
