Rick Porcello wins the AL Cy Young and Max Scherzer wins the NL Cy Young tonight

I find it interesting that 2 voters didn't have Verlander listed on thier ballot at all.
Verlander probably would have won it this year had the voters not been against JV. (at least it looks that way)
I'd like to know who they voted for.

Congrats to Ric Porcello !!!

Thats amazing, the Tigers starting rotation a few years back is doing very well, still.
JV has won, Scherzer now has won (is that his 1st or 2nd ?) and now Ric Porcello. :biggrin

Btw, David Price isn't too shabby either.

Yes, it's an absolute joke that Verlander was left off two ballots entirely. It reminds me of the year when two voters left Pedro Martinez off their MVP ballot.

For those that thought JV was DONE a few years back, he recovered from his injuries which were much worse than most knew and came back with a very good year.

All this so the Tigers can have a fire sale and ship most of thier good players away.

Next year might be the first year I actually break down and buy the MLB EI package so I can watch the Red Sox, looks like the Tigers brass are trying to do everything they can to NOT put a competitive team on the field next year.

Verlander DID have more 1st place votes that both the other guys.

I personally do not think any pitcher should win MVP. That is what the Cy Young award is for.

I agree, unless the pitcher has an extraordinary season (which Martinez did). And everything being equal, I would consider a closer in the MVP race over a starter, only because a closer is more of an everyday player.

according to reports, Bryce Harper wants... *gulp* $400 MILLION in his next contract. Now I know that Stanton contract was crazy at $325, but I do not think Harper is better than Staton.

DAMN RED SOX!!! LOL! Evil empire lite!

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...hris-sale-blockbuster-trade-chicago-white-sox

But it looks like they gave up the best prospects...Cuban sensation Yoan Moncada, pitching prospect Michael Kopech.

I'm okay with this, only because they didn't have to give up any of the Killer B's on their ML roster (Bogaerts, Betts, Benintendi and Bradley). Moncada is a HUGE price to pay, and Kopech reportedly has a fastball that tops off at 105 mph (although he has yet to develop a second pitch), but to get a front of the rotation guy like Sale you have to pay through the nose. The Red Sox now have four lefties in their rotation (Sale, David Price, Drew Pomeranz and Eduardo Rodriguez) to go along with Rick Porcello and Clay Buchholz. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox tried to move Pomeranz for a bat.

Sale's contract is very team friendly for a pitcher of his caliber: $12 million in 2017, with club options of $12.5 million for 2018 and $13.5 million for 2019.

ESPN just reported Loria has a "handshake" agreement to see the Marlins for 1.6 billion to a NY businessman.

Congratulations and well wishes to out to all the baseball fans in Florida on this wonderful news.

If there have ever been a reason to have a state funded parade... this is it.
