I was looking through the guide for next week for any new shows that may be starting. And I noticed that 3 shows that I have timers set to record new are not shown with the designated red timer icon. I assume this is all tied to the same issues mentioned in this thread? It's weird because Chicago Justice is scheduled to record tonight. But according to the guide there's another new episode Tuesday night. But it's not scheduled.
I guess that's why the Big Bang Theory episode from 2 weeks ago never recorded. The only way I noticed is when I started to watch last weeks episode and it showed scenes from the week before. I realized I had never seen it and it didn't record. I had to go online and watch it. Tell me again why I spend so much money every month with Dish?

As noted in my previous post, many new shows have duplicate episodes #1. I resolved the problem by deleting the timer for that program and setting up a new timer on the second #1 episode. Doing this makes the problem go away.

Well I'm another victim of a schedule miss:
The Expanse (SyFy) Is New on 3/8, but at 2200 and it didn't see it.
It has the next new on 3/15 at 2100.
I had to set another timer for 3/8.
Interestingly it also designates it as Episode 1 ???
Is this raw incompetence or they just don't care how bad it gets... sad

Even though the timer I had set for Chicago Justice already fired twice and recorded 2 episodes the episode scheduled for tonight was not marked to be saved. Had to delete that timer and make a new one for that show too.

The electronic program guide recently had a significant change. Dish had/has advised techs to keep calm since it is not a box problem and the bugs are being chased out of the guide

I posted this in another thread last night, but this was sent to retailers yesterday.

Beginning March 1, 2017, all receivers will be updated in how they retrieve Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data. This data includes program titles, descriptions, tile artwork, and information that is necessary for the correct operation of DVR timers. Because of this new update, the following issues may occur:
Known issues:

• Guide and info screen descriptions – The customer may see foreign language descriptions for English programming, or may see wrong, incomplete, or missing descriptions.
• Ratings – The customer may see incorrect or missing ratings for programs, which can affect parental controls.

• Recordings and timers – The customer may see missing recordings, timers not starting, or duplicate recordings.
• Wrong or missing images on tile artwork – The customer may see the DISH logo, basic channel logos, poorly sized pictures, or wrong artwork on program tiles.
• Search – The customer may see wrong, unexpected, or no results from searching. • Auto-suggest – The customer may see no results or unrelated suggestions.

Please note: The issues above cannot be fixed through regular troubleshooting. Instead, they will be resolved by DISH as part of a proactive clean-up process that will take a few weeks. In almost all cases, the customer viewing experience will not be impacted.

From what I know... (and I don't know much on this one so what I am saying may not be the entire story) is this was not a move DISH was planning on making, but basically was forced to do. They are working hard to fix things.

Oh really? Disappearing timers and lost programming will not have a viewing impact? A few weeks to (maybe) fix it? Something that takes a few weeks to repair is not a minor inconvenience, it's a major screwup. How do you go live with something that needs weeks to fix?

Never Dish's fault...
We always have make sure that's known...

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active

All the series IDs in the metadata has changed with the switch to TiVo/Rovi data. Tivo users had the same problems when their data was switched.

Almost a carbon copy of what happened. Going off of what Scott posted it sounds like DISH was not expecting to use Rovi?

So will our existing timers eventually be remapped and start working again, or do we need to recreate all the timers that aren't working?

I did read a press release a few weeks ago about how Niesen, the new owners of Gracenote, were going to somehow enhance the TV and movie metadata (music was not mentioned), etc. to somehow make the experience better or increase the value of Gracenote metadata to its clients. I'm thinking maybe this is related to the current mess--and I do mean mess as I've been getting it from everyone around here--with the metadata provided to Dish.

Lastly, the statement in the notice from Dish to retailers: "In almost all cases, the customer viewing experience will not be impacted," is very, very, very far from the reality (I won't use the word "truth," Wait, I just did:)). While it may be by varying degrees, every Dish user I know is acutely aware of the annoyance and inconvinience this change has created. Most people either don't post on this forum or just struggle through it with so many other matters in thier lives to deal with, but they are aware and at least a bit PO's about it. I told them weeks ago that I thought it would be temporary and would be fixed (it sure looks like they are trying to fix it). Then the good news that Dish admits the problems and expects them to be fixed. I will give Dish credit for not denying this problem. It now gives us all HOPE.

You should not have to, I did not have to with TIVO.

That does sound like what Scott described. There are three things that make me think we are seeing Rovi data however.
1. Looking as I type as an example is Green Acres. Both DISH and TIVO (who is owned by and uses Rovi) have the exact same description with the same -- between the same words. 2. It has not said Gracenote for awhile now on the DISH guide. 3. The exact same guide problem has been happening with TIVO for many shows or movies, lengthy description getting cut off.
I certainly agree not affecting most customers is not believable, as I see both Hopper and Vip posters having problems.

Thanks for the heads-up. I see that I have the same problem. I would have been very annoyed to have missed it.

I can appreciate the frustration of being "beta testers", but modern systems have far too many variants to lab proof.
So: how about we note & dutifully report errors as accurate & concise as we can?
I'll be the shortest error correction loop they'll have. I'm also hoping they "troll" this forum for nuggets.
We're the more technical of their subscribers and our quality of feedback will best any voice call complaint to Dish Central.
I'm only suggesting the stick isn't working, so how about a bag of carrots?

If this gets voluminous, it may warrant a separate sub-thread (also localizing info for Dish).

This isn't a case of beta testing. DISH has apparently changed guide data providers and this is what happens during a changeover or update. Scott has already said DISH is aware of it and I am sure they expected it once the update or change had to be made. What DISH could have done is put a notice on their site about it.
As some of us have already posted this is exactly what happened when TIVO changed over and is due to changing the program ID's among other things. Two of the programs that has recording problems for me have already returned to normal.
