I know that DISH was in a dispute with the FCC and was no longer able to offer out of market tv even in areas that are on DMA borders and had significantly viewed channels outside of the DMA. I'm wondering if that was permanent or it was lifted at some point. The reason that I am asking is my parents are moving to Florida and will be on the Polk/Oseceola County line in Polk County. Polk County is Tampa DMA however I think that Orlando DMA would be of more interest. I'll assume that if they want Orlando channels they need to get Cable?? Its actually the Solivita 55+ community.

(edited because I thought that the 34759 zip was in both Polk and Osceola counties but its only in Polk so strictly Tampa DMA)

Run that zip code through www.dish.com/locals and it will tell you whether you get the significantly viewed stations. I've done comparisons and DirecTV offers far more SVL's than Dish, hands down

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/packProg/svLocalChannels.jsp?assetId=1200076

Directv is quite generous with their SVL offerings. For instance, there are several zip codes outside Tulsa Oklahoma that receive the Tulsa nets and ALL the Oklahoma City nets.

Unfortunately for me, neither Dish nor Directv offer the Significantly Viewed channels for my area. (North Central Ohio) I would love to see either provider add the Significantly Viewed channels in Richland and/or Crawford counties. (Crawford County has a much better Significantly Viewed List than Richland County, so I could always "move" there. ;))

Well it appears that no one is offering much in the way of Orlando Stations, even Bright House Network only offers 1 Orlando station WFTV which is ABC. Provided locals are paid for (regardless of what they are), will Dish provide the guide data for an antenna picking up neighboring locals.

Yes. for the main channel not any subchannels

"Yes, for the main channel not many subchannels"
I fixed that for you. Dish does provide guide data for some subchannels, though it is hit and miss. (There are also some main channels that Dish does not provide guide data for.) Also, it is important to point out that Dish provides the guide data whether you pay for locals or not. :)
