I have a Hopper w/sling and two Joey's. One Joey is in the master bedroom. I would like to use the second Joey in a location of choice at a latter time. My question is in the wiring layout.

I have a structured media panel centrally located and a RG-6 coax to each room.

I brought 2 lines from the dish into my panel and they attach to a Solo Node.
The Host output from the node goes direct to my Hopper and all works fine.
The Client output goes to a 2-way splitter One output goes to the master bedroom Joey and the other output is the question......

What I would like to do is runt the second client output to a Channel Master 8 port amplified distribution unit as the input and then run an output from it to each room. I could then take the second Joey and put it in any room I choose and/or move it to a different room as needed.

Will this work or is there a better way?

I only need 2 Joey's and am not interested in the newer Hopper - yet.

Thanks very much.

Is the wireless joey not an option for you? We have one for this purpose and it's great

Why not get two 3-way splitters, which would give you 5 more room potentials. I do not believe amplification past the Hopper will be successful, but I could be wrong.
Also, regarding Wireless Joey, it does not matter if house is wired. A WAP could be installed at any unused line...you would need a HIC.

I now realize that the distribution module will not work. It is only rated to 1Ghz so that is a bust. I will use the 2 x 3 splitters as suggested by KAB.

Thanks for the replies !

The MOCA connection between Hopper and Joeys is bidirectional. Also, the frequencies involved may fall outside of what a standard CATV amplifier would support so it's not an option.

MOCA also needs all connections terminated for reliable communication. Without terminations, reflections could cause problems. This means that any room that does NOT have a Joey would need a termination in place of the Joey. Terminations are also required on any unused splitter port.

As others have suggested, a wireless Joey is probably the best approach. If you bought the Joey, you can probably sell it.
