Using two 3-way splitters on client line

I had another thread about using an 8 port module and using two 3-way splitters was suggested. I have a couple of question about it now.

I have a Hopper with sling and 2 Joey's ... that is all I want/need. I want the ability to physically take a Joey to any room such as when we have a guest I can put it in that bedroom.

House is fully wired already.

I have a structured media center centrally located. From the dish I use a solo node. The host output goes direct to the Hopper.

Can I run the client output to a 2-way splitter and those outputs to two 3-way splitters? That will give (6) outputs, one to each room.

Also, what rating does the splitter need to be. I see some that say Dish approved and are 1 Ghz. Others that are 2050 Mhz and yet a third that is 3 Ghz.

I would try to avoid using multiple splitters as that will weaken the signal. It's best to run the cable coming from the client port to one splitter. If you need it run to 6 rooms then I'd get a 6 way splitter.

and once again your best bet is to use a wireless Joey. You are too hung up on the fact that the entire house is wired. It's really very simple, place a WAP at the Hopper location and the Joey anywhere you want. Remember, in that other thread you were told that you would need to terminate every wired location that didn't have a receiver. You are trying to make this entirely too complicated simply because you are wired.

The only way the wired situation really seems like a benefit is if there are rooms too far away from the WAP. If they are all close enough the Wireless Joey is by far the easiest way to move a reviver to any room. A couple weeks ago I put it out on my porch and watched a baseball game while enjoying the weather.

I probably am making it complicated. However the house is wired with quad shield RG-6 and everything is terminated in all rooms. I already have the equipment and really just looking for flexibility with what I already have.

I also have 75 ohm termination caps on every unused line in the rooms.

I know there is probably 1/4 of the original signal left with the splitters but not sure how much is needed.

Seems odd also that I was told the amplified distribution block would not work and I also saw latter that is was a 1 Ghz unit, but the "approved" splitters are also 1 Ghz .... getting well above my pay grade!!
 
The splitters will allow the needed TWO way communication where your amplified distribution block will only allow ONE way.

Dish is using 650 to 875 MHz for MOCA so pretty much any CATV splitter should work.

An 8-port splitter is certainly more convenient than cascading multiple switches and will probably perform better. I did come across splitters designed for MOCA that weren't too expensive and might be your best hope for reliability. Search for "moca splitter".

This is where an Ethernet switch and CAT6 to every room would come in handy. But, it's not officially supported at this time.
