It don't need a mounting bracket, there are spots when it can slide on a screw or nail on the wall or TV mount.
Here is the 4K Joey next to the new Joey 3. You can see the difference in size.
I have a few questions about the Joey3.
1) Does the Joey3 use the HEVC codec for both SD and HD channels?
2) Is the break-up pixelation when viewing OTA channels fixed?
3) Does Netflix work?
4) Does it get hot like the new dual OTA tuner?
5) How is the speed?
6) Have you noticed any concerns or problems?
I would appreciate these answers so I can decide whether to replace my Joey2 with a Joey3.

Back in my Unix days I carried an ALIAS file on a floppy that I would load up before starting work on a new machine. Yes, I aliased ls -l to dir as I was constantly typing dir instead of ls -l.Isn't there an Ubuntu option that Microsoft supports ?
You could create aliases for the common Unix commands too, yeah ?Wouldn't work on other people's machines though....
I don't have a Joey 3, for the record. OTA issues are tied to the Hopper, not the Joey. I can't see the Joey solving this. Regarding speed, each new Joey has had noticeable improvements in speed. I'd expect this to be similar. I guess it mainly would depend on what someone was replacing to deem it worth it. Going from a Joey 1 to a Joey 3 - yes ! Going from a 4K Joey to a Joey 3 - maybe not.
I realize that the OTA issues are in the Hopper3 but when they changed the compression codec from mpeg4 to HEVC for the Joey3 it may effect how the OTA signal is processed. Since the OTA problem is intermittent it may be an internal timing issue. This could be similar to the problem where it takes 2 attempts to access programs on the external hard drive. That is probably also an interrupt timing issue.
You can also see the size in the picture in the first post. It looks like the Joey 3 is barely bigger than the remote control.
Amen, david_jr, Amen!!! I hate when I press the PIP button on the remote control for my Wally, and I get the pop-up, "This is not an active feature." It is so annoying, and it kind of implies that PIP could be activated on the Wally, but yet it does not instill any confidence that PIP is actually coming "soon." To answer your question, I also do not have a Netflix account.I can't believe that Dish hasn't found a way to get PIP on a piece of hardware other than the Hopper!! In a multi-TV household if you have the H3 system only one location gets PIP. Here with a 5 TV setup and HWS at least we get PIP at 2 locations. Would be great to get it at Joey locations though. Fast and PIP would be the 2 things I would be asking for. I have Joey 1's and am stunned at the slowness, although not nearly as slow as the TWC/Spectrum converter boxes we have at work for our free cable lifeline hookup to get our 16 channels. And BTW what is this Netflix you speak of? Am I the last man in America that has yet to get a Netflix account?
I suspect that is a motivator for Dish to get the max number of H3s out there. Moves closer the day they can switch to HEVC and bam- their bandwidth in effect doubled. Saves on new satellites, and can increase service to the PR.
Not sure I understand the question. Only 4k content on Dish is encoded in HEVC. Not speaking about the 4k Joey.
Then I am confused since the Joey3 uses HEVC but I was under the impression that it did not do 4K. I assumed that the Hopper3 uses the HEVC codec to send the signal via Moca to the Joey3 while it uses the mpeg4 codec to send the signal to the Joey2.
I realize that eastern Arc uses mpeg4 for the satellite content while western arc uses Mpeg2 for SD and mpeg4 for HD. Both arcs use HEVC for the 4K broadcasts.
I confirmed with Dish Technical Support that the Joey3 does not do 4K content. It does 1080i and 1080p. Thus the HEVC codec must be for communication between the Hopper3 and the Joey3.

That is a possibility but why would Dish include HEVC in their press release if it is only for future use. That is actually misleading. The gal I talked to at Dish knew very little about the Joey3. She put me on hold and was able to find the info. The technical specifications definitely only include 1080i and 1080p.
If the communication between the Hopper3 and the Joey3 did not change from the Joey2 then why did Dish have to update the software in the Hopper3 for the Joey3? I wish that an engineer from Dish would give us some insight.
I really miss the Technical Chats that Dish used to have. You know that as a former chemical engineer in automation I am part geek.
I can confirm that Netflix works on the Joey 3.
