The problem with Grandfathered prices, they never last forever. Sooner or later, Dish will do away with your grandfathered price or package and up your rates.

I suspect that Dish is going to try to get as many ViP DVR users as possible to switch to Hopper Duo. If Dish offers existing customers who switch to Hopper Duo the same introductory $5 per month DVR fee that new customers would get, that might be enough to convince many subscribers with grandfathered DVR fees to switch, even though the introductory rate would only last for two years.
Isn't the locals pack going up to $12, too? I mean that does not make the Flex pack look all that great for people that want locals.

Then after the two years the DVR FEE KICKS IN FULL PRICE. I see why they are doing it. They don't like having locked in $7.00 dvr fees and want the full $10.00, $12.00 or even $15.00 dvr fee.
That is exactly what makes the Flex pack so appealing. The add-ons can go up in price and not affect your overall cost if you only use them when you need them. The only add-on I keep permanently is the Latino bonus because it can't be dropped within 30 days without a change charge.
