So I just upgraded from a hopper to a hopper 3.

Tech plugs in an ethernet cable to copy the dvr from the hopper over to the hopper 3.

Wife wants to record a program on now.

hit record button, go through the motions, expecting a red light to light up, or for it to show up in the dvr timer list, on the guide or in the dvr listing. Nothing.

So will the hopper3 record a new program while copying from the old hopper?

Thanks

ARRRGGHH!
Ya know, I've had my Hopper 3 for two years now. I did miss that red light for a second and then realized that with 16 tuners there was no need for it at all. If I want to know if something is recording, I can do that in a button press or three. So little flatland to make a mountain out of... ;)

Sometimes, something goes wrong and a recording doesn’t start.

Sometimes, it can be “off” and you want to know if one triggered.

Sometimes, that light can tell you not to power down to move something or rewire.

Dish should spend the f[expletive deleted] fifty cents!

I'll send you 50 cents, as we all probably would if it makes you feel better.

With the 54/52 remotes it as simple as Options -> [1] (Tv Activity)

Not complicated steps but they require that your TV be on and that you are actually watching something on the Hopper. With a red light indicating it is recording something you can see just by looking at your entertainment center as you go by, no remote necessary.

Schematics? I guess I could tail directly off the HDD.

You know, now that I’ve stopped grinning and think about it, that might not be a bad idea. Shouldn’t leech much power....
