Stop/Cancel/Pause VOD Download?

Is there any way to stop or cancel or pause a VOD download on a Hopper 3?

I added several of the free preview STARZ VOD movies to the “rental” que on our Hooper 3 this AM. But they are really pulling down our 2Mbs internet bandwidth. So I would like to stop or cancel or even pause them until later tonight. Is this possible?

There is possibly a better solution, but you could unplug the Ethernet cable to the Hopper until you are ready for it to finish. You would still be able to watch and record satellite TV normally. (If you use WiFi, then just go in and change to an SSID or password that doesn't work, then change back later.)

Of course it does. The bandwidth options outside of major metropolitan areas (i.e. rural USA) are more like a 3rd world country. Forget cable, FIOS, fiber. etc.

My options for internet are…
— AT&T 4G cellular capped (no Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. signal -- period) or
— Satellite Internet (an oxymoron) capped or
— Line of sight WISP with no cap - @ 2Mbs, 4Mbs and even a rip-roaring 6Mbs DL. But even the 6Mbs Plan’s actual throughput is usually more like 2Mbps :(

Unfortunately most companies like Dish chose to design systems for the “bandwidth haves” and forget to consider the results of their design choices on the “bandwidth have nots”. Would it have been too much trouble to provide a pause/cancel/stop button for VOD?

Thanks. But it's not clear what happens when I re-establish the internet connection. So I'll just let them download :(
 
Last time I tried this, the downloads aborted and had to delete each one before being able to select to download again. Real PIA when you have several in the que.

Last time I did it the download (only 1) just picked up where it left off. That was a while ago so it might have been because it was a single download or they might have changed things before or after.
 
tcreek & jSheridan, I think you are both (mostly) right :) Here’s why….

I had 3 VOD movies active: 1 was downloading and the other 2 were in the download queue. I wanted to cancel all three downloads.

My Hopper 3 was setup for wireless and I didn’t want to set it up again. So I chose to “Reset Network”. After awhile the Hopper 3 reconnected to my wireless network. When I checked the VOD Rentals, the movie that had been downloading had “Failed” and the only option was “Delete”, the movie that had been #3 in the queue had also “Failed” with the only option of “Delete”. But… the movie that had been #2 in the queue had begun downloading. So I reset the network again and deleted the third movie.

Certainly not as straightforward as a "Cancel" option, but it did work.

Yeah. Those of us in “flyover land” don’t get much attention but we’re still here and our internet still sucks. Oh well; it’s the price we pay to live in paradise!

At least your not stuck with 56k dial up out there. I’m only 7 miles from town and 3 from another that also has a distribution building for my provider, yet I only get 3 down 1/2 up. And they have 10mb available in town. They are expanding there fiber network in the area though.
