Georgia and such
So..after a very long time of waiting, I finally added a 5th room onto my Dish setup.

I was told by the installer that the western has better signal strength than the east, and the LNB and node had to be replaced. I got the triple LNB, a couple of combiners I think, in the wiring underneath..and the SJ installed in the bedroom.

So..now I have 3 tuners + 2 tuners for 5 total..which means the dilemma we faced the entire time has now disappeared. All 4 TVs couldn't be used at the same time with each watching a different show. We've dealt with this for a couple of years, normally my kids would be the ones to suffer....and forced to watch DVR.
On-demand is harder for us to view since the DSL is slow and it has a data cap of 150gb...and only 6mbps download...
It is great to finally be able to watch 5 different shows in 5 rooms..
Not only did this change occur, but asked the installer which wires to move in order to swap my hopper and joey in my bedroom...and he showed me..so, now I have the hopper in my bedroom.

Are there any issues with the SJ? I think I've seen a few people talk about them..never messed with one though.

.

They just installed it.

just snapped the photo of the box..since i still have it right here beside me.

I'm more excited about the LNB..I think it was the hybrid ...dunno what it's capable of, but should be good for a while.

Didn’t a dealer post that they were “going away” and they were happy about it?

I like the LNB statement lol. Yes its higher signal on the meter but does it really preform better? The signal spread is more important. Whats everyone's views on it? Where I live we had all western Arcs 110 and 119 till 2003 then they start switching everyone to 61.5. I could get 60 on transponder 9. But on 110 and 119 its around 85. Is it really better? Ill prob start another thread about it as well.

Signals on EA are lower. While I'm seeing 70's for WA 119, 110 on EA I get low 50's for 61 and 72, however, I get much less rain fade on EA than I did on WA

Ya I noticed that rain interference has decreased over the years. I knew they was moving a lot of local channels over to 61.5 but don't know if they are ever going to decommission WA like they said they would. There are too many customers that will be NLOS if EA was the only option.

Just the opposite experience here, WA signals were in the mid to high 70's EA in 50's much more rain fade in EA than WA.

Now if would only rain, I 'd be glad to accept the fade.

When did Dish (or anybody) state any intention to decommission WA?

I doubt very much 61.5 would be used for WA locals, in Pacific Northwest 61.5 is a very difficult Satellite to get as the elevation is too low and there's a lot of buildings, mountains and trees blocking that elevation view.

You must understand that cities in the midwest, a city like Chicago for example, are being fed on both arcs today. Dish could very easily make them one or the other. There are areas in the the deep south that use WA only. While Seattle might never be able to use 61.5 other western cities could very well use them. I live on the California coast above San Francisco and I have a view of 61.5.

I'm trying out the dual tuner OTA to see if it's working better...does everyone else who has one like them? The IRD gets just plain sluggish sometimes, not as bad as the OG Hopper though...
Wish there was a way to add some RAM to the HWS...
