HD availability on Extra Innings & Center Ice with Dish??

I've been with DirecTV for many years and didn't think I'd ever be going back to Dish, but the ongoing problem list with the Genie 2 has me looking at Dish and the Hopper 3. However, I am concerned about the Extra Innings and Center Ice programming. Is it all in HD like Direct or are some games only available in SD? Does Dish offer home and away feeds? Lastly (at least for now), are all games for any given day available? I am aware of how the blackouts work and accept that. Just wondering mostly about the HD/SD thing.

All available Extra Innings games are in HD. I don't know about Center Ice; I've never had that.

Center Ice is provides SD for any Canadian feeds (outside of HNIC if that game is not on the NHL Network), and for any MSG feeds (Sabres, Islanders, Rangers). Sometimes Center Ice will only have the feed for one team even though the feed for the other team is broadcasting on the RSN but this is rare.

Keep in mind that Dish is lacking quite a few RSNs that show baseball. Some teams home feeds aren’t available.

Dish should be a last resort for EI. If you have a good internet connection, get MLB.tv- save yourself $60 and you can get ALL the teams

Thanks for the info. If I subscribe to the RSNs, will I be able to watch the games directly on it's broadcast RSN or are there a block of channels mapped out for EI or CI packages? I know...picky, picky, but this is important to me. I tried FIOS a few years ago...lasted less than a weekend because of the SD and limited games on EI. I'd hate to do a short deal like that where I'm paying for the equipment and under contract. Wife really likes D* and would be all over my case if I choose poorly.

MLB.tv sounds like it could be the way to go. Only problem might be that when it comes to smart tv, both wife and I aren't very smart. Whatever we do needs to be a quick and easy access without a lot of steps. If I can program it into my Harmony and get it going with one button push, it should work well...and yes, we have excellent internet (400Mbs).

You won't get as many HD MLB games on Dish where Directv gives option home/away to watch.

I'm trying MLBTV again where you get all games except local markets. What's different this year they support 60fps on Roku 4 and couple other devices (Not FireTV, android TV however) the games I've seen are crystal clear with no frame skips or jutter.
The Roku 4 see's the TV as 2.2 hdcp 4K Ultra HD compliant so sends 4K 60hz upscaled image that looks better than anything I've seen with Directv or Dish but what happens when the season starts is the question? Does MLBTV have the bandwidth, where in the past they have failed miserably.

I believe channel 476 has all of the mlb games. Last year they only worked on the extra innings channels (476). They did not work on the actual RSN channel like directv does.

My smart TV (sony) has the MLB app.....many other TVs just go (play store)and see if the app is avalable to download.

+1 for MLB.TV. I use it on a Roku Uktra and FireTV.. home/away feeds, radio broadcasts, mlb at bat app for your phone and cheaper. You have a good internet connection so the picture will equal or most likely be better than anything you’d get on DTV it Dish.
