Yeah, but it's much easier to set the PPV credit limit to $0. You also don't have to worry about entering the pin every time you land on a channel you locked out.
Of course you do since you cannot lockout a channel without a PIN

I always use four zeros for customers. They don't need high security just something to stop them from pressing Select too many times. :)

Good point, but it's still easier to zero out the PPV credit limit. If Dish wanted me to buy PPVs, which I have never done since that disaster with the porn, then they should write bug-free software when they copied down the 500 channel to channel 1. That was their deliberate decision in order to get more PPV purchases, because 500 alone wasn't giving them enough revenue.

Off the top of my head I don't know of a way to set a spending limit in a Hopper type receiver. I just know about the Restrict Purchases setting.

Along that line, there should be a Hide Duplicate setting for this situation. If you like the convenience of having the VOD grouped with the local channels, then you choose channel 1 and hide channel 501. If you like having the VOD grouped with the rest of the PPV, then you choose channel 501 and hide channel 1. Having it in both places just clutters up the guide.

Yes, that would be nice. But a bug is a bug whatever PPV channel it's on.

I am not sure if I made myself clear above... I've been with Dish since 2001. I bought a few PPV back in the day. But I never found a mysterious PPV charge appear on my bill before that channel 1 fiasco, and then BOOM. Porn showed up. At least Dish reversed the charge, but they did say that was the last time they would do that, hence my response to zero the PPV credit limit to prevent a reccurance whatever the cause.

There is no porn on channel 1 though. It is the same offerings on 501, which also has no porn. All porn is the 490’s...

Interesting. Are you saying this spurious porn PPV charge and the new channel 1 dupes were just a coincidence?

I was wondering how long it would take before someone pointed that out. :)
There is some soft on demand porn. When I had a SHO Time on demand issue with Gigolos and called DISH, the CSR took over my Hopper to see what the Gigolos issue I was having. He got an eye full and stayed professional. I will be more careful next time. ;)
