HBO/Cinemax Takedown

Yep. I'm in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of NC. No cable, no OTA signal. My only choices for TV and internet are satellite.

This is the area I was referring to where at&t was doing away with dsl customers. Seems like just about all of WNC is in the middle of nowhere. :)

Sounds a lot like around here, only difference is we call them hollers. :)

I lived in WV for a few years. I could invasion a wireless PTP at the mountain then wireless PTP down into the holler and then bust it out as Active Ethernet fiber on BiDi's to houses on new aerial run to keep it cheap and doable.

Going to amazon.com/video on a computer then clicking on the HBO channel has live stream options for all of the HBO channels at the bottom. Have not seen the live stream option appear on Apple TV or Fire TV. Either it isn't supported or it requires a subscription to see.
I found that., thanks. Makes me think I don't need HBO Now afterall

I let my HBO go a few months ago - same stupid crap over and over. The content they make is over running the prime time locations for you to watch anything good and even then something new on it was rare.
Glad its gone.

Apparently AT&T doesn't care about rural folks. They've already cancelled all orders for new DirecTV satellites that weren't already built and have publicly said that they plan to eventually do away with satellite service altogether in favor of 5G, which is another technology that rural folks will probably never see.

If they wanted rural 5G customers, they should have bought a lot of 600MHz spectrum, but they did not.

Do you do service in the Lima area or are you all over Ohio?
Just in Columbus. The Sub Contractor I work for is opening a new office here and there's a bunch of us rotating in and out to help lay the ground work for it

Same here. But I am on fiber-optic cable (Consolidated Communications Inc). They have a great bundle deal for landline phone, internet, and TV -- about $150 a month.

I only had HBO for the movies, and they don't seem to swap them around very often.

I dumped Dish Network in 2013 because of the price increases and poor customer service. And when I left they slapped me for the cost of the LNB which is about 20 feet up (two story house). It was there from the previous owner who had Dish. They probably charged him for it two. .... Nothing like kicking your customers on their way out. Will never go back.

well i see no need for analog phone service anymore i don't even see a place for VOIP either we all have cell phones and you can create pdf files and e-mail in todays world

I use voip from Ooma because I spend hours on calls and don't want to hold a cell phone up to my head all that time and don't want to worry about phone battery.

They only charge for the LNB is the receiver is not returned. If the receiver is returned, the LNB is automatically waived. I was there I. 2013 and that was the policy at that time as well.

Anyone know what kind of hit this will be to dish revenue?

Very little in terms of revenue.

They take the bigger hit loosing an actual subscriber for not having the content.

It's like people who subscribe to Directv for Sunday ticket.

Even though dish might not have exclusive with HBO they stand to loose higher paying subs by not having it.
