I can't believe I saw this on a basic cable/satellite channel!

I just turned to IFC to watch "The Terminator" and it just went to the love scene with Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor and they actually showed Sarah's nipples! I can understand this on a premium channel, but on IFC? And I'm NOT TROLLING guys!

Interesting. I guess I never watched it on IFC before. I noticed they also didn’t bleep out the f-words being said. But then again, I’ve heard the s-word without it being bleeped out on South Park on Comedy Central for a very long time. The first time they allowed that on South Park, it was a very big deal.

I haven't watched anything on IFC in years, but I do remember a good 15 or so years ago seeing some foreign films with full frontal male and female nudity. I was pretty stunned too, but there it was.

FCC rules only applied to broadcast networks.

The "regular" cable channels were free to do whatever they wanted, but a "gentlemen's" agreement grew to where you could go "up to a point", but a pay channel was fair game. They have become a little less "gentlemanly".

Lot's of nudity and F-bombs on non premium cable TV these days. A lot of the FX original programming falls into this category, Yellowstone on Paramount, Blood Drive on Syfy, Comedy Central airs the South Park movie uncut late at night. The first instance of nudity on non premium TV I remember seeing was about 20 years ago watching MTV 2 (when they played music videos) and they aired the uncut version of the video for Metallica's cover of Turn The Page with the full nudity during the rape scene at the end.

Ive seen some really good movies on it. Sometimes mature content or realism requires less (than broadcast) church language.
I think I saw Henry and June and possibly The Rapture on IFC. Two very mature movies. Not saying great movies, but entertaining.

If I'm correct, in all actuality, the FCC doesn't have the authority to regulate basic cable. It's the advertisers and ratings that regulate basic cable.

The other side of this is AMC. I watched Blazing Saddles on it a few weeks ago. It was bleeped so bad it ruined the movie. I guess in this day and age nudity on TV is ok on screen but don’t use any derogatory words.

Yes, I remember when AMC and Bravo were ad free. Liked those days. But as stated, only OTA TV has to be cleaner. There are no restrictions on satellite/cable. I guess in theory IFC could run an X Rate film, if they wanted to.

Netflix has the original, hilarious and non Bowdlerized classic.

I remember watching the original TV movie, Brian's Song, where James Caan's "Brian Piccolo" calls Billy Dee Williams's "Gale Sayers" an N-word (and no, he didn't use N-word) in an effort to get him motivated after an injury. Billy Dee Williams looks shocked for less than half a second then breaks down laughing and calling for his wife. She runs in thinking something awful has happened and he points at Caan and, through his tears, says, "Brian just called me a n****r!" ". And they all crack up at Brian's attempt at reverse psychology.

Wouldn't happen today, but it was a great moment.

What I find interesting about all of this is that all of the AMC-owned channels seem to share and rotate the same pack of movies among them but IFC is the only network to show them uncensored/uncut. Bottom line: I'll watch it on IFC
