Charter getting desperate?

Have your parents asked TWC/Spectrum about their 30/5 $14.99 plan? I have it for our Adirondack cottage, and my daughter was offered it when she said she was dropping cable completely, including Internet. The plan includes a free non-WiFi modem, although I preferred using my own.

Yes, I had them ask. Apparently they do not qualify? They can't threaten to leave because there is nowhere to go. Frontier isn't even selling internet in their village any more.

Neither one of us were asked for any qualifications that I know of. The plan was offered to her with no prompting on her part. She was serious about dropping them and just using her cell phone as a hotspot, but the $14.99 was cheap enough to keep her with them. Back when I got it from TWC several years ago before Charter came along, I think there was a 62+ age requirement, but I was never asked to prove it. Maybe I just looked the part... ;)

OK. I'll mention it to them. There is no cell service in town though.

There are two low cost internet plans from Charter, Internet Assist and Everyday Low Price.

Internet Assist -
30 x 4 for $15 or $20 with wifi
Must meet one of the three qualifications outlined in the link below, no exceptions
1) Have a child in the NSLP 2) Live in a CEP area 3) Be over 65 and on SSI
Low Income Internet Assistance for Families, Students, & Seniors | Spectrum

Everyday Low Price -
3 x 1 for $15 or $21 with wifi
I believe this available to residents of NY State only as part of the TWC merger agreement

Neither my daughter nor I meet the Charter $15/mo 30/5 qualifications, yet we both have the plan. Mine was grandfathered from a TWC plan for seniors, but she just got hers last year.

Yours is explainable since you are on a L-TWC plan. Your daughter got lucky then, the rep who allowed that should be fired.

The local Spectrum office here seems to still follow a number of the old TWC rules. I don't know if that's because the transition isn't fully complete yet or if the local office just has that much autonomy to retain a customer.

It could be the CEP area that has allowed that? I know that I live in that designated area, and get the 30/5 internet.

That being said, I have Spectrum internet at both my personal business and the non-profit I work at, and have been satisfied with the service. I am actually fine with the no-haggle policy. The prices are lower than they were with TWC, and the internet is faster. All wins.

It’s certain addresses that qualify.

You just put the address in the system and if they can get it, it will show as available

They should all follow the same rules.

The only difference is the account numbers will designate legacy charter or legacy Twc When built

As said, it could also be our addresses are within a CEP area that makes the plan available to us. As long as they don't raise the price, I'm happy.
