Not every job is an assembly line building widgets. I think you're oversimplifying what a job is (or what it can be). If all I cared about was one-upping myself for better pay all the time, I would personally never be happy.

Definition of a real job is performing a direct service that has a tangible value. Just like anything service related, their current jobs just may become invaluable, and thus they may be looking for work regardless of what their special skill to hit a ball, put a ball in a hoop, or hit someone else. If they lose customers, they have no argument.

Professional Athletes have the JOB of entertaining us, they are expected to be at their best everyday lest some fan be at his only game a year and be disappointed the athlete didn't give his all. They are providing a professional service to a company or organization and in turn are well rewarded, hence a real job.

The topic here is we lost Fox Sports Networks because they want more money. The reason they want more money is their costs have gone through the roof. Pro sports league contracts, college conference contracts, and other sport deals have grown way faster than inflation. We pay more now for less quality. The average baseball player makes $4,4 million, average NFL player makes $1.9 million, the average NBA player makes $6.4 million. In my time when the games had 1/2 the teams. Those average players would not be playing. They are not good enough to make the fewer teams. Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus have won over 150 PGA championships and combined made $9,4 million. Today we have many players who have made more money individually than those 3 legends combined and have won less than 5 PGA Events. Again paying more for an inferior product.

Sports players keep demanding millions of dollars and actors keep demanding more money also. Then at every level up, everybody wants more money. I hope they all put themselves out of business. Even concert tickets are too high.

For most concerts that interest me, general admission prices aren't to bad ($45-$75 per). The problem and the reason I rarely go to concerts is the added service fee charged by the ticket seller, sometimes more than 50% of the ticket price, with no way of avoiding it.

I have a feeling this may be the end of the regional sport networks on Dish.

They already have proven they don’t need regional sports in the NY DMA.

Many dish customers don’t care about sports , and I believe Charlie said that not many customers watched the regional sports channels.

Last time they took down fox sports it was 2011 and the channels where off for 30 days, and that was in October after baseball season had ended.

I’m predicting this either gets resolved soon, or doesn’t get resolved at all.

If this goes 30 days, they are going to loose any customers who actually cared

I'm not an NFL fan, so I have no idea if the games are included. If the game is carried on a local CBS outlet via All-Access, then yes, I'd expect it would be included

I did without my RSN for many years until we decided to sub to AT200 to get certain other programs we like.

They are an incidental perk we watch occasionally.

I'm sick of these media companies thinking that the population has an endless supply of cash to throw at them. Well, I don't and I hope Dish sticks to their guns. I've gone beyond caring and I'm not going back to AT&T come hell or high water!

Streaming is killing traditional cable, and going to get to the point where the providers are only going to agree to a la carte

It’s just dumb that we continue to pay these so called professional athletes millions of dollars to play a game.

Let them have to get jobs in the winter selling used cars again.

Seriously, every household in America who subscribes to cable television should not be paying in some cases a $5-$8 regional sports fee every month, which goes to pay these players salaries.

There is no reason why any of these teams need a 100 or 200 million dollar pay roll.

Professional athletes should be making $50,000 per year, and if they are really good they can make money with sponsorship opportunities.

If the players want to go on strike, F em. I’m sure every college athlete who is not being paid would be glad to play for the NFL or MLB.

We would probably loose every professional athlete who plays in the 4 major sports today, but just like there are people lined up that are willing to sell Dish, there is no shortage of talent to play professional sports.
