Any ideas on how to fix? My Hopper 3 randomly reboots. Seems to be getting worse. Happened numerous times last night and now again tonight.

Howdy, tobsandmags. We definitely want to help with any concern you might be having. If your Hopper is randomly rebooting, make sure that the Hopper has plenty of air flow to maintain a good internal temperature. We recommend the air vents have at least 4 inches away from any obstructions.

If the Hopper is plugged into a power strip or surge protector bypass these and plug the Hopper directly into the wall outlet directly. Hopefully that resolves your issues. Let us know!

Are you saying that the Hopper should not be plugged into a surge protector. If you do have a power surge this would leave your AV system at risk. Does it have an internal surge protector?

We recommend plugging the receivers directly to the wall as many surge protectors have an energy saver feature, which shuts off the power when it detects unsual pulls of electricity that may indicate a surge. As our receivers are on, either powered on for viewing or in standby for downloads and updates, the amounts of electricity it will pull will vary depending on their status and what the receiver is doing.

This will cause the surge protector to see these different pulls as a surge and shut off the Hopper, which can result in it rebooting on its own when that happens. If a surge is to occur with the Hopper plugged into the outlet directly, it will attempt to reboot itself to protect against the surge.

I’m trying the 1st advice first....unplugged it for +30 seconds. Will see if that works then try the other recommendations if necessary.

Our two H3s reboot on their own at any time of day even if there are recordings in process. The Reboots also only happen after half past and before quarter till the hour. This is not a surge protector. AND they wait until you want to watch them. They can be sleeping all night long and within minutes of waking they due the reboot and sometimes you can stop them. They do as they please. This has varied with updates.

I was actively asked to contact TS, I did and have not heard a thing from them.

We can't look up accounts via SatGuys PM, but if you can PM us here we can look into the method you've contacted us and possibly do a search to find your message so we can look into this issue further!

So far unplugging mine for +30 seconds seems to be working. I’ll continue to monitor a bit more to see if it reoccurs.
