I get Dish Errors regarding HDCP not allowing me to watch any 4K programming (even though their is not much). Missed several games because of this issue which was introduced a few firmwares ago. I have 2 different 4K setups in our home and neither work (Hopper 3 and Joey 4K). I know calling would be a joke trying to explain the issue. The same setups work with several other 4K sources so clearly a Dish issue. SJ

I tuned in during the pregame
All good for a minute or so
Then error.
Switched back to regular fox
Gave 4k another try when game started
All has been good since
Currently watching on 4k channel

No problem watching 4K on channel 540-01 using Sony XBR-65X900E connected to my Hopper3. As usual color is less vivid on 540-01 than Fox 28-00.

Yes no problem with U939 software and HDCP errors.

To get 4K content you have to have the latest high speed HDMI cables between your devices. HDMI that worked for HD won't work for 4K. The receiver senses this and gives you the error. I invested in a 16 ft 4K cable between my Denon and my TV. But I still got the 4K errors until I figured out that the 3 ft cable between the Hopper and the Denon was one of my regular ones. I replaced it with a new high speed version and the issue went away.

You can get them at Amazon and MonoPrice have good deal. Just look for a cable that is 4K rated and has an Ethernet return path if you are planning on using eARC now or in the future.

These are HDCP errors not HDMI issues with 4K. I can play 4K all day long out of my Hopper 3 (and my entire HDMI cabling is Monoprice Certified) except when that programming is from Fox on channel 540-01. All the other devices that I have in my mix all play just fine.

Humm, OK. My error was that 'The receiver has detected that the cable is not......" after about 15-20 seconds (same as yours) and stays in the error page until you change channels.

DHCP is an Internet term, not broadcast, which makes me think that maybe your cables might not have the Ethernet return path?

I said HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), not DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). Please don't confuse the issue being reported here. This is a software issue as it worked just fine until recent software updates.

I'm on the latest software versions and continue to get errors on both my systems (Hopper 3 and 4K Joey). All cables are certified, etc. Didn't have this issue until the previous version and hoped it would be fixed with the latest. Runs for about 30 seconds and then error... “HDCP TV Not Supported” 890.... Sorry, titled the thread incorrectly and can't figure out how to change. SJ

Thanks! Hopefully they will fix soon! Introduced in the last firmware update and maybe specific to the Fox 4K broadcasts as I don’t watch other 4K Dish content.

I was seeing it back in October when I tried watching a 4K event and thought it might be the old HDMI cable I had since the ViP 622 days. I went upgraded the TV once and the Dish DVR twice since then, but didn’t replace the cable until I got the HDCP warning to my 55” LG C8 OLED.

For some reason, I was able to watch that original content, but when I tried watching one of the 4K football games, the HDCP warning was back.

Since I still have my old Yamaha AVR in place, I am using the 4 HDMI inputs on the LG instead of switching through a 4K AVR. That’s my project for pre-Christmas, getting the Denon 3400H installed and everything re-cabled with new HDMI 2 cabling.

Oh, and updating the programming of my Harmony remote to accommodate the change in hardware…

Just watched the Ohio State and Northwestern playoff game in 4K.

I have the Denon X45000H in 9.2 full surround and a Sony 77" A9G Masters Series OLED TV.

Trés cool!

I asked the moderators to correct your title and they took care of it! :)
