New Software Release 1/13

THIS is a good thing!

New software is available starting 1/13 and it has the following features and improvements:

• Stability Improvements
• Force Guide Update

Force Guide Update Feature Notes:
Users can now force channel guide update by on all Hopper and Wally receivers by using a button in the Tools menu
1. Users no longer have to wait for a major software release to update the guide, they can simply navigate to the tools menu and select “Guide update”
2. Once the update is initiated, it may take 2-5 minutes before guide progress becomes visible. Standby after confirming the forced guide update once.

as long as it is live, press the channel down button once and it will bring back the screen with no further errors.

The only ones that get 4K, Hopper 3 and 4K Joey. I’m guessing on the Joey but it definitely works on the Hopper.

I just downloaded U941 on my Hopper 3.

just downloaded the 941 software at 540am. afterwards i had to reprogram my remote because it wouldn't control my tv. maybe the upgrade did that. im new to dish, so perhaps thats normal. so far everything else, at least the things ive tried, is working normally.

OK, I manually updated to 941 this morning starting at 9AM. No issues so far; my 54 remote continues to control the TV here.

When will the Joey 3's update? 3AM as usual, or sooner, or not at all?

Turn off Joey and it should update. Give it some time.

I always wondered why we didn't already have this force guide update feature since it seemed a logical feature to have. Better late than never.

Updated here this morning just fine. I'll check the 4K HDCP issue once the 4K feed is available again.

So, my Wally was on 827 and I did a software update to 828. It now shows "Guide Update" in the "Tools" section. When I click on it, it asks me to confirm by clicking on "Yes". I click on "Yes" and it doesn't do anything, just returns to "Tools" screen. I've reset the Wally, and tried numerous times to update guide, but it does nothing.

Conclusion, I have the option to manually update the guide.................but it doesn't work.

On edit: Twenty minutes later a message popped up that it was updating the guide and would take 5 minutes. When you do the manual update, you get a warning that live TV was interrupted. However, live TV was not interrupted and there was no indication that the guide update was taking place until it was at 95% complete.

The Program Guide download took a long time. I updated both of my Hopper3 receivers to U941. I left both receivers off and the Program Guide download started at 11:18 AM on both Hopper3 receivers. Both receivers got up to 35% download and stayed at 35% for about 9 minutes. The Program Guide download then restarted from 0%. This time the Program Guide kept downloading and finished at 11:36 AM on both Hopper3 receivers.

Looks like I'm a lucky one, 941 was automatically installed last night.

The Check Status LNB Drift bug is still there. Other than that, all else works fine.
