I know that ads help support this site however, this google ads at the top, un between post, in between screens, and at the bottom are just two much. I no longer have satellite TV but enjoy reading the post.. More ads than content, thinking of moving on.

If you become a Pub member, you won't be looking at any ads. You will also be able to put ads in the Pub forum, and if you're into politics, you can even join us in ThePit. :D

In web advertising, they use the term "impressions". This screen grab leaves some pretty daunting impressions (highlighting by me):

The one that is almost always there is a ear wax clearing devise. It is graphic and gross. There all the time. ewwwww

The ads aren't irritating to me. My mind doesn't even see them. They are just portions of the screen I immediately scroll past without consciously noticing. I couldn't tell you who is advertising since I don't focus on them. Someday advertisers will realize this is not a good use of their $ since most people don't read them.

I can say the same about TV ads which I always audio mute when rarely watching in real time. The main irritant then us the large gap between show segments which hurts program continuity.

The ads are no longer places by us. Instead they are automatically placed by Google which decides where and what it shows you.

If we place the ads where we want the revenue drops about 75%.

Word of warning do not search for bras online. My wife used my computer and the other day was working with a co worker and opened the web and the only ads I got were for bras. Lol.

I don't mind ads that support your forum, we can't pay to be a member of every single forum that we read. It's the new ads that block the whole screen and require you to x out the ad to see the next page that create a very unpleasant experience. I haven't seen them on any other forum that uses the same forum software. Does Google actually require them for "decent revenue"?

The relatively new pop-up ads are starting to show up on other Xenforo sites. They are completely frustrating given that they have to be dispatched before you can do anything else.

I agree with these comments on the ads that kidnap the entire screen and require an action to continue. These are too much to tolerate. So far, these seem to appear only once per each session. If their frequency increased, I would stop using any forum with this. They are as irritating as auto-play ads with sound enabled.

Not that I see them on this site, but these ads seem to frequent news & tech sites that are linked from here. While reading the article, ads appear between every two to five paragraphs, where the scrolling stops when the ad is fully revealed, and won’t work for 5-15 seconds to force you to view the entire ad before you can continue reading.
