I currently have one Wireless Joey and would like to add two more. The problem is Dish will not allow me without a $180 service call. I asked them why can't they just send them to me, and I can hook them up myself, like the first one. They keep telling me it is complicated and they have no way to process it. So can I just buy two more wireless Joey's and wireless access points off of Amazon, hook them up, and just call Dish to activate them? I get there will be a $7 per month additional charge per unit but I just don't want some strange technician in my house again.

You don't need more access points. One will run 3 Wireless Joeys. Just buy the Joeys and call to activate them. You don't even have to wait to call, once you get them. Plug them in, pair them and call to activate while they're downloading

Like HipKat said. Also, since those additional wireless Joeys would be purchased, they would only cost $5 each per month, not $7 like a leased Joey would. :)

My wireless Joey's came yesterday. Hooking them up was easy as could be. I called Dish to activate them. No problem at all. I was off the phone in less than 10 minutes. There is a $7 per month, per Joey charge, but that was expected. There was absolutely no reason for Dish to want to send a technician out to my house and charge me $180 for something I could do myself. Thanks for the input HipKat.

You might want to log into your Dish account and check the ownership status of those Joeys. If they are Purchased, they should show up under your Programming as $5 add-ons ("Access for Add'l TV") rather than under your Equipment for $7 each, as a leased Joey would.
