Been a customer for over 20 years, and learned the "Ask for Retention Department" trick 5 or 6 years ago and they have consistently offered me a $40/mo discount on the Everything Pack.

I'd call in every 12 months, ask for the Retention Department when it expired, and they'd always just sign me back up for it.

Today I called and they said that was no longer an option, and best they'd do is $10/mo.

Did I just get a cranky rep, or have they stopped these sorts of discounts? After so many years of getting it, how do they think I'd be remotely 'satisfied' going back to the old price?

Here's the current offer for existing customers. It's not $40, but it ain't bad. https://www.dish.com/downloads/legal/Existing-Customer-2-Years.pdf

Hmm. When I called in to cancel a nearly decade-old account back in January (less than 90 days ago), they offered to reduce the total monthly price from about $120 to $70. IIRC, the discount was going to be good for two years (although maybe it was just for one).

I had a 19 yr customer today while I was there for an upgrade, 722 to Hopper Duo/Joey 3. We called Loyalty and they gave her the top 120 with Heartland pack free for 3 months, and dropped their locals for a total of $75.19.
Seems like they're still doing discounts

I've been under the impression that they tell you the price is going way up to get you to call, agree to a small increase with another 2 year contract. Thats what I did a couple of months ago. But maybe that has changed.

I am 73 and I ask for the discount every 2 years. It doesn't bother me to do another contract either to get the discount. So far, I have not found anyone else that has the programming I want including streaming. I am Grandfathered in to the Super Stations and if I drop them, I cannot get them back either.

How do I find out when my current offer runs out? I moved about a year ago if that makes any difference.
Sign in to your account and Look at your latest bill where it says " Bill breakdown" go down a little bit and you should see something like this .....You are currently in month 18 of 24 of your promotional discount. The termination date of the promotional discount for your Price Lock Advantage is 10/15/2022. Your prorated early termination fee for the remaining 7 month(s) is $70.00.

Thank you very much. I am in month 15. I only have $5 of discounts plus the $5 epay discount.

Well, my 2yr promotion expired while I wasn't looking and my bill went up over 30%. First offer from retentions is still up 20%. I am now on hold because I told the nice lady that wasn't good enough. OK, she brought my bill back down to $1 less than it was, unless she didn't include the dang taxes and fees.

Does anybody know what happens to my promotions if I experiment with the Flex Pack? My CSR thought I would still keep them even if I downgraded, but I doubt that.

The same thing happened to me last year, so this year I was ready and called in at the right time. I got the promotion that rvvaquero linked in post #3 above, and I was happy with that. It took a few phone calls, but I also did get credit for the amounts that they over-charged me because the promotional rate expired.

Overall, I am still happy with Dish and am not quite ready to go full on streaming yet.

Not disappointed with the Dish service we have either, however, it has now exceeded the amount we are willing to spend each month on TV viewing. Our retention offer expires in June and we have gone "full on streaming" and rarely turn on the dish receiver anymore.
The last retention offer was at our max allowed for TV and there has been a few price increases since that offer so I doubt it will be the same amount and quite frankly don't expect it to be.

I don't see anything like that. Does that mean my contract has expired? I know I've been with them for at least 20 years. Don't believe I'm getting any discount with them now. ($98 for Americas top 200)

97.99 seems to be the base price for Top 200, so if you don't have local stations/more than one receiver/state taxes or other addons then you are paying the normal price.
