Disney Networks Dispute Recitifed

Not sure what this means. This would suggest that the "new model" services have figured something out that DISH hasn't. If that were the case, YouTube wouldn't have had the same issue with Disney/ABC less than a year ago:

Switch providers if you want but don't be surprised when the same issues pop up at your new provider.
Too bad you cannot sub to the channels you want directly. Some you can, but others you need that middle-man provider.

And this is where Dish can shine and keep them or flop and loose them all depending on their reaction in fair compensation. I have a feeling the old compassionate Dish is gone, and they will continue to only offer $5 to only those that ask!

When it’s all said and done, Dish will basically be Philo…

If that one billion dollars number is accurate, that works out to about $10.42 per subscriber per month for all subscribers. Does anyone really think Dish could hold the line on the usual $5 per month annual increase including the annual increases that most of the other carriage contracts include? Would you be ok with say a $15 per month jump?

Dish, it's been a good run of 20 plus years...since the first year you started service. However the time to end our relationship has come. I am tired of all of the inconveniences to me, the more than twice the amount of money I spend on you vs all my other streaming services, the constant freezes from the joeys I have and the DVR linkage forcing reboots when I fast forward. I will miss the ease of use, and the DVR storage of programs for years and years that I don't have to get rid of, or just have disappear.

To be clear Dish, it's you, not me, that is ending our relationship. I am just tired and I don't see you changing no matter how many times I ask you to. Today was the final straw. I am packing my bags and will be gone by Monday.
Each year, I look for another provider that will give me the channels I want for less money. No other provider has many channel Dish carries. I do not watch much cable fare channels. I like the Movie pack, Super Stations, and all of the diginets Dish carries. The majority of that is not available elsewhere.

People have been making this claim every time there's a take down for years. Hasn't happened yet...
That is true, but there has to be a breaking point where Dish does not have enough subs to compete. Both Dish and Direct have lost a ton of subs. In time the only way they can survive is to merge. Even then, it is a matter of time before they go via streaming 100%.

The Hopper Plus is the first steep to all streaming services

Eh, DISH still has about 8 million subs, which ranks it as the 4th largest MVPD in the nation behind Comcast (17 m), Charter (15 m) and DirecTV (14 m across Sat, Stream and Uverse TV). So I'd say they're more than a blip.
8 million is a far cry from 17 though. Anyone know the total number of cable subs nationwide these days for TV? It used to be about 50 million.

well when i started with DTV in the 90's i was paying 29.99 for 150 channels. the PQ was sexy and the audio was amazing. it was cheaper than media one for cable at that time who cost more than dtv!!! LOL i was amazed at the dtv channel lineup at that time also LOL. oh yea i paid ussb the 7.95 for there basic channels as well
I think Dish was about that in 1999 when I got it. It was Dish 300. I think there was about 100-150 channels.
