What receivers are best for this use case

So as everyone saw my other post my grandpa wants to do dish without paying. He decided he will pay 72.99$ a month for 1 room and all the other roooms will just be receivers without service with ota adapters. But I am wondering which receivers would be good for these rooms. Vip 211k? 211z? Wally? Hopper duo? Also dose the 211z support the ehd like the Wally and 211k? And dose the 211z also support the ota adapter

VIP211K have the OTA coax input, the VIP 211Z does not, and there's no adapter for that one. And all 3 support the EHD.

It's a joke, but I wouldn't invest much in using old disconnected dish receivers as OTA DVRs. They can send a command to turn off the OTA tuner at any time.

Yeah I'm not going to be useing them as dvrs as my grandpa dose not want dvr. I just want him to be able to get the most out of them. And if dish dose discontinue guide data for vips I'd replace them with Wally's or even hoppers

211s require a dvr activation fee so you wouldn't be able to get them to activate it without them being on an account first.
