Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Trying to trademark T1 for a product in the telecommunications field should be a quick rejection. T1 has been in use for decades and refers to the 1.544 Mbps standard Data Line service available from telecom companies.
I'm no trademark expert but since T1 is a type of technology, not a company I don't see why it would be an issue. But maybe since both are telecommunications related? I don't know.

But agreements can be made if the money is right. Most people forget (or don't know) It was Cisco Systems that held the trademark for 'iPhone' until crApple came into play. The iPhone name first came out in the late 90s by a company who's name escapes me, Cisco bought the company and the rights to the name. The iPhone was series of Linksys branded VoIP phones in the early 2000s. Cisco should have told crApple to go pound sand and let Jobs have a hissy fit. They sold out.

But sometimes agreements can't be reached. Ford owns the trademark for 'Model E' which makes the Muskrat's hideous looking car line up a little less S3XY. As a Ford guy it makes me smile that it was FoMoCo that threw a wrench into Kaptian Ketamine's plan.

A article that went more into depth on the White House meeting, first, Carr was not there ( he met with Ergen the day before), White House had to call him, second, based on these two paragraphs-

In the meeting with Carr, Ergen reportedly was told that EchoStar needs to start selling some of its spectrum licenses or risk losing them. The spectrum licenses are conditional on EchoStar meeting certain 5G buildout milestones.

"That does not mean that the threat of a bankruptcy proceeding is over," he wrote. "It means that Carr, in contemplating his path forward, must act in a way that allows him to convince people in the White House that if there is a bankruptcy, it was not due to his own actions."

Looks like Carr is doubling down on taking away the spectrum, not being blamed for it, if it goes south.

Lastly, SpaceX is not the only company wanting the spectrum, the three big providers, Vermont-based VTel Wireless filed a petition, along with SpaceX.

The $350 phone for $500 will be made in America... at least it could, in theory... down the road... at some point.
article said:
"Eventually, all the phones can be built in the United States of America."
And at $47.45 a month for $25 a month service, people will swarm for this deal. as it will provide better service to under serviced people... as a MVNO service (ie on other people's networks).

I thought selling the spectrum was not allowed. The auctions weren't done to create middle men. This is surreal. There is likely no legal viability to the FCC interfering like this with Echostar. If Echostar are hitting their targets, they are meeting their obligations. And they met these obligations at great financial peril to the company itself.

You need to get up to date. Boosts unlimited plan with 30GB of data is $25 forever, and while they are sharing some T-Mobile and AT&T towers they cover 70% of the country with their own network (do some homework) and oh by the way you can bring your own phone. In addition Boost is an MNO, not an MVNO, Don't believe all those websites that are repeating 5 year old info, a lot has changed since Boost started the rollout. I could offer some suggestions as to what all these haters could better spend their time on but I don't want to get banned.

Visible (Verizon) is currently offering a $20/mo unlimited talk, text, and data, including hot spot, with no slow down. After the first year, the cost goes to $25/mo.

I was referring to the Trump Mobile plan. I've been on Boost for a few years now. Very happy with Boost. Just wish Dish/Echostar would advertise it better.

Maybe if Charlie & Co. sweetened the deal by cross-coupling the Satellite service with Boost, say by matching the Verizon/Visible pricing of $20/mo for DishNetwork customers for the first year?

If Dish is going to go through with the Bankruptcy, then they best do it now.

Why in the world they haven't paired Sling with Boost is beyond my understanding. That seemed like a no-brainer.

That is what Echostar/Dish/Boost's press releases say, yet no evidence has been provided that is true.

The FCC has claimed testing and more upcoming testing has proven that is untrue, who do we believe?

Boost still uses T-Mobile and Verizon towers.

Then we have this from February 2025-

But that doesn't mean EchoStar's Boost Mobile-branded 5G gambit is paying off.

"Wireless is a scale business," analyst Roger Entner, with Recon Analytics, told Light Reading. Boost, he said, "has no scale."

Entner went further, explaining that Boost still is not a viable player in the US wireless industry after almost five years of trying. "They're not even in the consideration mix," he said.

"Persistence is a quality that's terrific," Entner summarized. But a "'build it and they will come' [strategy] is not enough in wireless."

Today EchoStar is nowhere near meeting the goals executives laid out in the company's early days in wireless.

Then the company said this in 2022, 3 years ago-

And then, during Dish's 2022 analyst day, the company promised to eventually grow its mobile customer base from around 8 million to between 30 million and 40 million in the consumer sector. Company officials also said Dish would eventually capture 20% of a $30 billion private wireless market in the enterprise sector.

Except, they lost another million in the 3 years since the above.
