Has anyone bought the joeys from dish themselves!!! we were qouted 100.00 after what we told them we paid for ours for the joey 4 ( owned not leased ) installed and activated as well.. there pricing seems kinda low for an owned box from what other places want for them... the hopper 3 is cheaper in other places most of the time other than dish...

I never bought the Joeys but I do know when I bought our 2nd H3 Dish matched the price I was gona pay for it from one it dealers.
Interesting that dish would match the price of the hopper as they would not budge to match prices with dealers pricing they gave us every excuse in the book why they would not match pricing... 100 smackers seems kinda low for the joey 4. that sounds leased to me but who knows!!!

If you buy it confirm that is not leased and you own it. When you activate it also confirm that you own it then get on your equipment page and confirm its says owned . I know it sounds redundant but it's better safe than sorry once they list it as leased it becomes very difficult to switch it back. At least that's how it use to be they may say whatever we don't want it back no matter who owns it.

Maybe it's you have to agree 2 years
we agreed to the 2 years but we also got the wheels and deals to so it was a no brainer... dish still would not match the price of the hopper 3 with solid signals price.. they even to want to charge us to install it  that wasn't happening!!! finally we did get someone that knew what we wanting to do :) our boxes do say purchased on our acct. they did ask where purchased and how much

Well understand that I dealing with loyalty department for years (10+) and even that is sometimes diffrent from person to person I talked too. One told me no other said yes and another said yes and the would match it for 2nd hopper...

Over years I got Original Hopper w sling x2 and 2 joeys upgrades for FREE no charge, and H3 upgrade with 3 joeys 4k for FREE again. At one point I even got dish to give Do 2 hoppers plus and 2 joey 4 to replace the 4k joeys all for free. I was then called a day later buy tech supervisor saying that cant be done something about switch and hub they have wont handle it.

I Still want the hopper plus and 2x joey (4) but I was told that wont even work with 2 hopper 3 system... I know Joey (4) dont need hopper plus to work but they also wont give me them with out hopper plus and I dont feel like calling to deal with get right person to do it for free..

Dealing with normal dish department probably very unlikely for this alot of this happening

If you buy direct from DISH they are always going to quote you their MSRP price, which $100 seems about right for an entry level receiver such as a Joey.

The problem is that there is no more competition among online dealers like there used to. You had dish depot, dishstore, sadoun, gradys, solid signal and ebay. I think dish depot used to sponsor this site? They all competed against each other and kept prices low, Margins may have been thinner back then, but they all made it up in volume.

You can always go on eBay, and if you find a seller with positive feedback I would feel pretty safe about the transaction. However eBay is going to hit the seller for like 18%, and those costs along with shipping fees get passed along to the buyer.

If I was to get dish, I would just lease my equipment and get everything for free. Unless there is a cost advantage on a monthly basis owning a piece of hardware vs purchasing it, I would rather lease it. If you lease, you will always have a warranty if I have any issues.

Sure you can sell your old equipment on ebay. However by the time you get $50 for a Joey, Pay ebay their 18% commission, have to find a box, go to the post office, what did you really gain?

When I had Tivo, that actually made sense, There was no lese fees on the equipment and I had a 6 room system with no additional outlet fees. My Cable and internet bill was $115/mo plus a $10 DVR fee for the Tivo. Times where good with Tivo
