Yes, YOU have. This is a power user's forum. You're a power user.I've used folders for years. It makes our Hopper recordings easier to keep our individual recordings easy to separate.
I see people's DVR's daily, with almost zero using folders.

I didn't know that was possible. I'm fairly new to the Hopper, certainly not a power user. My Hopper 3 has two folders by default, which can't be removed. They are Prime Time Anytime and On Demand. Also, my Hopper 3 creates folders on it's own. For example, I have a Timer set up to record all PGA Golf events and it puts them in a single folder if they are on the same channel.I see people's DVR's daily, with almost zero using folders.
When I had DISH , I used them for:The number of people who would want that feature is less than 1%, I'm sure, so why would Dish add something so complicated that almost no one would use?? I can tell you almost no one uses folders at all
You were just power using to impress Donna. When I had DISH , I used them for:
MOVIES
NEWS,
TV SHOWS,( shows off of locals that I don't have Prime Time Anytime turned on. Like Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays)
RETRO ( classic tv )
Premium( for HBO,SHOWTIME STARZ etc.)
DONNA. ( wife's folder and it kept everything in its own place and I didn't have to see my wife's decorating shows off of HGTV and Magnolia).
I believe any no-charge upgrade or receiver add requires new 2-year commit. When I upgraded from a 722K to Hopper Duo, it came with a two year agreement to stay with Dish. That is outside of retention "loyalty" discounts, which I've still gotten every year since.
Those are different. You can create custom folders when you go into editing timers. I'm super OCD about organization, so everything I recorded had relevant folders that each show would record to, like Sports, Movies, etcI didn't know that was possible. I just assumed that everyone's Hopper behaved like that. Is there some way I can remove those two default folders and prevent the others from being created?
No, you cannot. But can you create folders on the EHD? I haven't seen any way.
yah last time I tried that they refused to give us so 3 wally's could go that route, I wont bother to try again till dish fully payed and caught up, dad current behind paying them and wants the canceled but wont do that cause of contract. That really is the way to go from a cost and fee perspective. I pay $51 a month for a Wally with DVR capabilities, Flex Pack + News. Antenna for locals. That's like 1990's basic cable pricing, you won't get that with any other provider.
