Got some sad news to share. Claude Greiner died yesterday

I didn't know Claude and only watched his posts from a distance, but I think it shows the character and sense of community of the people and moderators of Satelliteguys to show respect for a guy who seemed to cause a lot of problems here (and elsewhere).

One of the reasons I'm proud to be a member here.

I bought a 622 from Claude when that was essentially the only way to get one and he helped me through some issues remotely. (IIRC that was in the days of the faulty HDMI connectors.) He was decent enough with me and I never sensed any issues although apparently there were plenty with other folks. RIP Claude - yes, way too early for anyone...

Met Claude, Scott and Charlie at a get together at the Denver convention center in 09. I believe he was also at a get together in Aurora, CO Scott hosted around the same time. I had just dropped Dish when DirecTV came out with the DirecTIVO's. Charlie told me he would get me a deal to come back to Dish. I had been with them since 1997. He did e-mail be but the deal was the same I could get anywhere so I never went back.

So sorry to hear of Claude's passing.

You got a personal subscription deal directly from Charlie Ergen?

I was at that Team Summit (dealer convention) as well and had some good discussion with him, even though our business models and ethics somewhat differed...

I got a kick out of his spelling challenges in his posting to Dishretailer, and then it was like one day that all cleared up. Hmmmm. You couldn't help but laugh at lines like that he had "soar knuckels" from installing.

RIP Claude, I talked to him a few times many years ago online and on the phone, He sold me my first Dish Receiver, DVR522. Real easy guy to deal with. I haven't been on Satellite Guys in a long time, because I'm not involved with Satellite TV anymore, but just today I had to help an elderly couple re-align their Galaxy 19 FTA dish and I had some issues. So I decided to come on here and first thing i see is the post about Claude. RIP.

Edit: I found his Obituary online. Claude Greiner Obituary - Grosse Pointe Woods, MI

Monday, May 18, 2026—I happened to come across this news.

I am sorry.

Sympathy is extended to all of Claude's survivors who are near and dear.

I know that, over the years, there are some people—be they on this site or another site similar in its content—who are no longer alive.

Well wishes, in general, to everyone…and, with that in mind, please take care.
