Charlotte NC HD Dish Upgrade

Does anyone have information on how to go about getting a Dish 1000 upgraded to a Dish 1000+ and the costs (hopefully nothing) so that I can be able to recieve the upcoming HD Locals in Charlotte, NC?

I called customer service and they had no information (as I expected).

Ok this is what I found out from my contact with Dish. If you have problems let me know and I can put you in contact with the person I spoke to.

When the new locals become available there will be an option for any agent to upgrade the dish1000 to a 1000+.

I've done a few of these upgrades myself....in the Charlotte area....None of the cutomers had any input as to any problems getting a D-1000+ upgrade..
Perhaps you're not asking the right questions..

I just got off the phone with Dish...The following applies to current HD customers with D-1000 antennas....
The customer must sign a one year term agreement and wil be charged a fee of $59.95 for the D-1000Plus upgrade....

Yeah there should not be any issue's. I will be glad when my locals get added in HD which they should this year since they were on the original list.

Ugh... I'll probably stick to my OTA anyway. (don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those unavailable to get OTA, that they are getting the channels.)

Did they ever release the Dish 500+? I was thinking about it earlier. I think I'd rather swap my Dish 500 for a 500+ and keep my wing dish pointed at 61.5 for HD, instead of introducing 129 and all it's fun issues to the mix.

Wonder if that'd also be a $59.95 upgrade?

I think the $59.99 upgrade fee applies to the 500 plus as well..WE use the same antenna for both..The 1000 plus has an attachment for the 129 LNB..That's the only difference...If your getting good reception from your OTA, don't bother with the upgrade....Plus using 61.5 wing dish gives better sigs than the 129 off a d-1000
