OK, so if this is the case, the only way around the freeze up would be to hack the box and either make it think it has gotten a "hit" recently or "stall" the clock?

This may seem like an ignorant question, but according to my wife, I'm full of them. Why would Voom send a kill signal? If they are going out of business and IF they don't collect the boxes, what is the use of a kill signal? Could some body please explain the logic of it? Thanks.

This could just be the store's way of avoiding possible legal action from customers if Voom does go down. Every store knows how quick customers resort to lawsuits when things go bad. Doesn't exactly mean they know any thing more than we do.

What are the odds that Voom is waiting until CES to make a major announcement about the DVR and Whole House Solution? Just seems to me that would be a perfect time to launch new hardware.
