Actually you save less money bundling. You lose out on the retention offers because you're billing goes through combined billing and they have virtually zero offers. Compared with retentions at both AT&T and Directv you do better calling in individually then combining for a paltry $10.

Most likely it is this. They can tell if you are unbundled with AT&T, bundled and or with another carrier and likely what carrier you are with by your number.

I can't help you with Mexico but what I can tell you is that we have no issue what so ever getting Directv up north in Quebec City area when we are up there. I imagine that so long as you aren't super far south in Mexico you should be able to get setup properly with HD just as you are with SD...
