VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

Scott: I've always respected your work and enthusiasm for this forum. Recently it sounded like you were talkingthe "party line" and siding with the decision to rip out Voom, but in the above reply #822, I see where you are coming from. Obviously you have esoteric knowledge the rest of us...

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

Voomless In Allamuchy So: No more Gallery HD and those excellent Voom science channels in HD. And absolutely no request for feedback by Dish BEFORE making their unilateral move. Hey WE'RE the customers who pay YOUR salary. Anyway cable has just come through this country town with...

ALL VOOM TO GO MPEG4 AUGUST 15th

The like-for-like exchange is great news, but I have a question: When does this offer run out? I called Dish this morning and the rep said August 15, when the Voom mpeg4 begins--after that Dish offers no more like-for-like exchanges. (I know that sometimes reps are wrong.) This presents a...

    622-Hard Drive Has Become Corrupted

Navychop: thanks for the direction to search the general thread on the problem. I read them all through and have some modicum of comfort knowing that the problem is so usual. I am wondering if there is any plan or downloadable software to do away with the annoying message. Also I [U]did...

    622-Hard Drive Has Become Corrupted

Yup, just happened to me (also in NJ, if that means anything). And when the satellite was found and lined up, all was fine with the data. Yet, about 6 months ago I got a similar message and then some of my recordings were lost--but not all. Nasty and unfathomable. Would also appreciate...

    Scott's Team Summit Blog

I probably missed a follow up on your excellent report, re Dish wanting to have all Mpeg2 receivers upgraded to Mpeg4 sets by the end of the year. I think you reported "like for like" trade ins. Any clarification of this? Thanks.

How has your 622 performed for you?

The 622 had only one bug, and it was probably not in the receiver itself. Local Fox HD from New York had audio dropouts that rendered watching the channel impossible. I called Dish and lucked out. Got a knowledgeable tech who actually listened to me and recorded data from my receiver...

    ViP 622 & 722 Running Bug Thread

I haven't heard much recently on Dish's switch to MPEG 4. Anybody out there have any info on this? I'm just wondering that when this switch is made, will the 622's audio dropout mess be cleared up? Still Fox-HD is unwatchable because of these dropouts.

    ViP 622 & 722 Running Bug Thread

Ditto. Most noticeable on Fox out of NYC, but ABC had a few when I recorded Lost and Desperate Housewives as well..... Bob: Exactly the same here in Northwest Jersey. NY Fox especially bad on dropouts. Tried to watch "Idol" and the musical "performances" plus the dropouts combined made...

    Cw Hd?

Any news on when or if Dish will be offering WB/UPN as locals in the New York area? I understand that the two will merge by fall and be CW; I guess Dish will wait till then to make a move. Anyway, this would make a decent additional HD offering.

Other Sites thoughts on our 622 review

Scott: Ignore those frustrated critics; they're just mad 'cause you beat them to the first comprehensive review. Your review of the 622 was clear and enjoyable. Somehow you captured the excitement of discovering each new feature for me as if I were unpacking it and setting it up, myself...
