i had the same problem during my self install experience http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=204384 turned out to be bad dpp separator.

I don't think an amplifier is a good idea. There is two way communation between the recievier and the multiswitch in the dish. An amplifier will probably screw that up.

I had the same problem during a self install but since I had two cables running from the dish anyway, I just yanked the separator and hooked up two cables and fixed it that way. Read about it here...

I’m wondering what you used for reference. When I first set my dish I was using the bolt for reference, but then took a closer and noticed what I should have been using. My dish is set for 40 deg using the bit of metal highlighted in red. (like the manufacture should have)
