DISH Hacked - Websites are BACK ONLINE!

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that the ability to use PayPal was not available on that temporary "pay-by-account-number" website. Now that the full featured MyDish site is back, I'd have thought the ability to use PayPal would be back too, but it isn't. Has anyone asked Dish whether...

How to delete and edit Dish Pass entrys on 942

Yes, just go into "timers" and you should be able to either delete or edit your existing Dish passes.

Adult Channels Blacked Out in my Area

The "sexless six" as I've heard them called are Utah, Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Oklahoma. That programming is also banned in Cincinnati, Ohio.

    Sat noob w/ a few ???s

It is as simple as pushing the "mode" button on the front panel. Unfortunately there is no way to do it from the remote. HD channels on digital cable use QAM modulation, a format which isn't supported on the 942. The 942 requires an 8VSB signal, the standard for over-the-air broadcasting.

Is there any way to get a decent 16:9 SD with 942?

Look again, with a more critical eye. Using 4x3 #2 and stretching to fill the 16x9 screen results in a 33% loss in vertical resolution. Essentially your 1920 x 1080i becomes 1920 x 720i, and your 1280 x 720p becomes 1280 x 480p. I watched the same short HD clip both ways, and the PQ loss in...

Can you watch the voom channels on the 625?

In addition to being HD channels, they are also modulated with 8PSK instead of QPSK. The standard def receivers don't have 8PSK hardware.

DVR 522 TV1 stuck on "press select to contineu"

There is a little switch labeled "A" and "B" under the battery door of the remote. I haven't a clue what it does, but mine is set to "A". I'd replace the batteries in the remote, make sure the switch is set to "A", and do the receiver/remote sync (press sys info button on panel and then record...

    Dish 942 L225 Update

I noticed one positive change. When scheduling two consecutive programs on the same channel, the 942 used to record them on two different tuners due to defaulting to "end 3 minutes late" on the first program and "start 1 minute early" on the second. With the new version, it looks like the 942...

    Voom Channels are on Dish!

I had the same experience as mike_johnson. First CSR had an Indian accent, and gave me a number to call. It was an 806 (Texas) area code, and when I tried calling it, discovered it was a disconnected number. Second try I got a pleasant woman with an American accent, that had the channels up...

What the hell is going on @ E*, Exec. CSR refused to help!!!

He didn't call customer service. He tried to subvert customer service, by calling a number intended for people unable to resolve their issues through regular channels. What he did would be akin to going to movie theater, walking past the long line of people waiting to buy tickets, and into...

What the hell is going on @ E*, Exec. CSR refused to help!!!

I don't see anything that JJ did that was rude or unprofessional. If anyone was unreasonable, it was you, for taking the stance that your time is too valuable to go through the appropriate tech support channel (1-800-333-DISH), the one used by Dish's other 9 million customers, on the off chance...

Just cancelled Cinemax & Starz until they add the HD channels

Good move. My current choice of premium movie channels (HBO and Showtime) is largely based upon having them available in high definition. I don't currently subscribe to either Starz or Cinemax, but I would if Dish provided the HDTV feeds.

Will you watch/use the TVGuide Channel??

I never use the TV guide channel, even on analog cable. Takes forever to scroll to the area I'm interested in, and then there is no way to drill down for program details.

Lose 10% of channels, get 1% rebate

Or as it actually turned out, Charlie suspected the channels would likely be out for hours, not a whole month. $2 to lose CBS and the Viacom cable channels for a month sounded like a bad deal for us subs. But $2 for less than two days seems more than fair.
