DVR 522 TV1 stuck on "press select to contineu"

I recently leased a 522 and it has developed a problem.

"TV1" is stuck on Press "SELECT" to Continue.
The TV1 remote powers the TV and the receiver on, but won't do anything else. Pressing "Select" on the receiver front panel has no effect either. I've tried resetting to factory defaults, cycling power, etc.

"TV2" and its remote work fine in both dual and single modes.

Any ideas on what to try?

There is a little switch labeled "A" and "B" under the battery door of the remote. I haven't a clue what it does, but mine is set to "A". I'd replace the batteries in the remote, make sure the switch is set to "A", and do the receiver/remote sync (press sys info button on panel and then record on remote)

sounds like the problem everyone else is having...eventually it will work and then hard drive diagnostics will come on for 5-10 minutes and then it'll work fine for a little while

Mine started doing it this morning. For a while it was I had to press select a couple times, now nothing works unless I pull to plug.
